Default NEW Super Mario Bros. an evolution of classic 2D Mario

    http://www.nintendo.com/gameminiav?g...f-be9fc6d0d4ea

WOW. It looks even better than last years E3 video. (Watch the bigger 12MB video if you can.) Especially the multi-plater mode. If that's online, it'll rock! Even 1-player mode looks awesome!

Wow. I wasn't expecting that. I can't wait for that and Mario & Luigi 2.

It looks great. It'll be nice to have a new 2D Mario platformer, instead of the endless rehashes. I have to admit I'm excited by this, even though it's nothing terribly innovative or new.

It's still far ahead of the last 2D Mario platformer. 14 years and we finally get a new 2D Super Mario game.

It takes the goodness of a 2D Mario platformer and adds in all those little cool innovations Nintendo's added to Mario's universe in the last decade and a half. Wall jumping. The enemies that make you spin around in the air while coins explode out. The Super Mushroom that makes Mario HUGE. Now, THAT is cool.

When I heard about the DS, this game was the main reason I bought a DS. After seeing this new footage, I don't regret it.

I hope it's really really long. Like REALLY REALLY long. It needs 100 levels and tons to do. I want many many levels. And I want a bonus remake of the original SMB for people who get a high score (Or use a cheat code) like how they did with the Deluxe version of SMB. Seriously, I'd love to see what the original Mario game would be like had he had the same powers and knowledge he has now.

Also, according to GameSpot, it won't make much use of the stylus to which I say, GOOD. Just use the power. Don't try to force us to play it in some new way. I already have to use the D-Pad in Mario 64 because their so-called "innovation" of using the touch screen to control the character does NOT work for me. D-Pad all the way. Forget the Stylus.

I bought my DS for Mario 64. But I'm glad to see there are more reasons. I only have three games so far. But Mario Bros. and Mario Kart will totally kick ass.

Best part, Fire Flowers make a comeback as well.

but... but... but... I don't wanna have to buy a DS!

    </whine>

Seriously, that kicks tail. Wish it were on something other than a DS... I think that's the only Nintendo product I don't own.

The BIG Mario reminds me a PC KID 3 (Bonk 3) on the PC Engine.

well i got to play it today(e3), its pretty awesome. there's a shitload of new moves that marios has, like all the moves from mario 64 and world put together. the graphics are really interesting, though, its a 2d game, there alot of slight 3d aspects to it. at one point in the demo, mario ate a mushroom that made him the size of kingkong, and enimies were like ants to him. its definetly not the typical mario, but it still sticks to its roots, i felt like it was a faster paced game , lots of tubes were placed in the level that would shoot you all over the map and cool thinks like that.
Even if I go to hell, I will live to the end of this world. And if the world does not come to an end... I will destroy it with my own hands!

grumble. it's amazing and all, but it's another proof that the dual screen thing isn't even being effectively used by nintendo themselves.

Aye, it looks cool, but so did Yoshi Touch & Go.

    Don't listen to Jorpho's bellyaching. 2D FOREVAR SI L33T!!! R0><0R!

Hopefully this 2D game will actually be awesome. I'm getting somewhat sick of the 3D hypemongering crapmachines. Why the 2D world climaxed with Symphony of the Night and then gave up that glorious pixelated dream, I'm sure I'll never know.

While you have a good point, I'd prefer Nintendo didn't try to cram "touchability" into every last game. It's wonderful and innovative when it's done right, but the DS has other qualities that can be focused on. I'd hate to see them hobble themselves by trying to justify the touch screen in every single game.

I thank GOD they didn't make the game require the touch screen. Touch 'n' Go is one thing, but a Mario Bros game is meant for the D-Pad and Jump button. This was my biggest fear actually. That they'd screw it up. I am happy to say they did not.

I can't wait. This will be the most natural evolution yet of the classic Mario formula. Looks ace! I bought my DS last night, with Mario and Star Wars (both great games) and the future looks very bright indeed.

lookign forward to this bigtime, as well as MK. I can only agree that i hope theres lots and lots of levels, as well as tons of other stuff to do. if this doesnt sell oodles of DS systems, im sure mario kart will :P

i have a feeling the touchscreen will be used for something, although i honestly hope its not used at all...

Cool! I like how the wall jump was incorporated...

More than a mere rehash, now that's what I like!!!

I'll certainly add it to my to-buy list for the DS.
