Default RE0 the best looking never-released game on N64?

This is a link to a rare video of the never-released N64 version of RE0. there are also some High Resolution pix of the game on the same page.http://www.rehforums.com/videos/RE0N64.mpg

The video is not very good and looks to be taken at a Trade show back in the day but still it shows just exactly what could have been accomplished with the N64 hardware when pushed to its limits.
Dont get me wrong it in no way compares with the beautiful Gamecube version but I think would have been one of the most graphically impressive games on N64 if it had been released if not THE MOST IMPRESSIVE.

Not sure if this post might be locked because of another similiar post but oh well

Why do the most impressive titles for a system get cancelled.

    32x Virtua Hamster
    Sautrn Shenmue
And now this while your right the N64 version cant come close to the GC version it still looks amazing. I wonder how they got the system to do 2d so well and clear up the usuall muddyness.

yeah thats what amazed me was the clarity of both the 2-D backgrounds and the 3-D characters

I also agree with the statement about Shenmue on Saturn very impressive also although slightly below what was accomplished with Panzer Dragoon Saga (well when flying on the Dragoon anyways). I used to own a new copy of PDS but sold it back in 2000 for like 18 bucks

I think the charictor model in PDS are not nearly as good as those seen in Shenmue. Theres just so many more polys to em. But as for the enviroments they look just as good as each other.

Dinosaur Planet looked rather tasty indeed back when it was on the N64 and didn't have anything to do with Starfox. (Rare are one of my favourite developers and Star Fox one of my favourite franchises - what went wrong?) (Well actually I have some pretty good guesses what went wrong but thats another story).

Bah I'm still dissapointed Buggy Boogie was never released. It was one of the games featured in all the magazine previews of the N64, then it dissapeared and then it came back with cartoon graphics and then vanished again!

Did anyone ever see the first Wave Race shots? Back when it had boats instead of Jet Ski's? It was cool you could get air, land on another boat and push them underwater. Kind of glad they used jetski's in the end though.

there was a screenshot of ff7 for the n64. they gave up on that pretty quickly. remember the old ff7 ad? "to whoever makes cartridge video games, here's a blindfold and a cigarette" and it had a pic of the juno cannon.

Ok that is impressive, but i've often wondered what Eternal darkness was like on the N64.

The ED video was more impressive than the Zero video. I had seen N64 footage of RE0 but never before ED.

I think it's because the most impressive titles are usually created towards the end of a system's life cycle, during which the developers learn how to push the system to its limits. However, the companies feel that it would be better to focus on the newer systems, rather than one that is on it's death bed, so to speak, thus having the game be cancelled/ported to a new system. That's my theory, at least.

Lets hope this doesnt happen to Zelda on GC which I doubt would happen.[/quote]

whoa that is awesome! The N64 is pretty powerful for it's time.

Someone should do a thread with just pics/info about systems and games that pushed them to the limits(or close).

I thought we all knew that the N64 was a powerful bit of kit? It was really let down by blurry textures and poor framerates.
