Ahh! I wish.
I loved the first two. Hopefully they do that online one as the third.
pfft
I'd rather go play some arcade games...
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

We've covered this topic a couple of times already. Many around here seem to want a 3rd Shenmue, but it seems unlikely that Sega will invest in the creation of such a game considering the public's lukewarm support for the first two Shenmue titles.
I suppose it will happen when Sega is feeling profitable and wants to make a change to that situation.

Maybe they should make. Another.
While I and many others would like to see the series finished, the chances are slim. Lets face it folks, it just didnt sell well. While it sold, it didnt sell well enough for the DC sequal to get released states side and the X-box version was hardly a best seller. Most game mags I have read still talk trash about the first. I consider it to be a dead series. It would be nice if we got the online game but I cant help but think chances are slim and none of that happening.
I'm going to display blatent disregard for other viewpoints or the feelings of others in the words that follow. ANyone that didnt enjoy the Shenmue games is retarded. The only reason that there was minimal stateside support for Shenmue is that the general public is retarded! They were both excellent games in line of story telling and game detail. Yes, there were slow points, but the pluses far outweighed the minuses. The games were great gaming experiences and it pisses me off to no end that the fate of this game will most likley remain in limbo for eternity. I'm pissed! But I'm also over it. :P
I've suddenly become retarded.

I agree, bith were great games, and are underrated by the massmarket. I am still happy that we got the DC-version of part 2 in Europe. It is one of the best gaes I ever played and I think the Shenmue games belong to the dozen of adventure and rpg's I ever completed (ok Shenmue is much more).Originally Posted by Jive3D
Sadly we will never know how the story will end, thanks to the great people who only buy sequals from games which offer the same as the last one. Yes the market wants more Electroni Arts crap, because what the consumer knows he eats and what he don't know he won't eat.
Sad but True.
They were unbelievable games. Shenmue 2 is the best game on Xbox. I was *floored* when I first arrived in Guilin towards the end, just the most beautiful game environment I had ever seen, same for Yokosuka when I first played Shenmue 1.
Shenmue-style titles are the future of RPGs, minus maybe the forklift driving, which honestly, I really thought was fun.
If they don't make a third, I will be positively crushed. I think I'd rather see the continuation of Shenmue than the contiuation of Xenosaga, which says something, because I'm a huge Xenosaga fan.
I, too, am retarded, but I never claimed otherwise.
Shenmue was so boring that a small portion of my brain(about 3%) actually died while I was playing it. Shenmue II didn't kill any brain cells, but that's because I had porn playing on another TV nearby. I'd watch the porn and push random buttons for my chore simulator (Shenmue II) and made it quite far. I think my character fell asleep or went into a coma or something then. Hell if I know. I stopped playing it and took a nap (much more exciting.)
I'd give Shenmue Online a whirl, though.
Thanks for indulging my gaming habit when I was young, Dad. You were the best. I miss you. ~David Barnes 1926-2007~
do you know where any sailors hide?
BTW did u guys ever get the alternate ending in shenmue 1 where lan DI kills him?
Substitute "made it quite far" with "racked up a shitload of gold and experience points" and you've described my experience playing console-style RPGs like Final Fantasy and Pokemon.Originally Posted by fishsandwich
