Default I can't take it anymore! Help with PC picture frame gaming

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8200 with a screen resolution of 1400x1050. The screen is 15 inches I think. Lexicon knows the specs because we bought his and hers, I think it's a monster.
My Sims game will only go up to 1024x768 so whenever I play (both Unleashed and online) it's like half my screen size surrounded by black
I saw extended play yesterday and Adam had the Sims on his full screen! I want it like that. Is it possible?

Are you sure that full screen was at that screen resolution? Maybe the screen resolution was set to 1024x768 so the game looked full screen?
