Hey folks,
thought I'd announce it here first! You'll soon be seeing monthly columns from a new team of journalists, each covering very different areas. If you head to the main DP site (click the logo above), you'll see that these feature columns now have a special place along our index bar on the left.
In no particular order:
You may remember Bill Kunkel from his gig with Electronic Games Magazine in the 80's, Sega Visions in the 90's, or his work with dozens of computer games over the past 20 years. He's an insider through and through but one who enjoys sharing his experiences and insights. "The Kunkel Report" will re-live some truly memorable experiences through the eyes of one of gaming's most prolific personalities.
Laura Truchon's "Pressed for Time" will explore the options for those who do not have a whole lot of time to devote to gaming, but need that regular "fix". Games that you can learn as you go, games you can start and finish while your mate is brushing their teeth, games that pass the time when the time is less than a standard television commercial break.
For the arcade game fan who plays arcade games at home, Jess Ragan's "MAMExpose" presents you with the many joys - and pitfalls - of emulation, specifically those found while using our favorite program in the universe: MAME.
Greg Wilcox' "Did YOU Know?" will be your ticket to all that has been hidden from you in the vast universe of video gaming. Whether it be titles released in distant lands, gems that were snubbed by attempts to bring it to the public eye, or simply games your mother told you you couldn't play, Greg is on the case to shine a big bright spotlight on all of the dark corners of gaming.
The charter of Jessen Jurado's "Middle School Gaming" is to provide an in-depth analysis of a specific game. It's not a review, it's a detailed account of the game's history, inspiration, production, and social impact. If there's a magnifying glass around, Jessen's the one holding it. Mainly so he can fry tiny insects.
Much excitement to follow... for now, check out the intros for these "coming soon" features.
