    Default Buy-back rates

Jessi and I were talking about games and systems we own, and possibly making a trade or sell at some point and we started talking about Gamestops and EB.

Anyhow, what determines really the buy-back rates at Gamestop/Funco/Babagges and EB/X stores?

Supply/Demand and Namesake, or Supply/Demand vs. Namesake. Rarity doesn't really go into the equation of these retail chains. The only argument is the DBZ Final Bout game. Although one of the shittiest games made for any console to grace the American shores, it WAS rare, and despite it being a crappy game, lots of DBZ fanatics want it.

Even though something like Stadium Events or Stack up is increadiably rare, not too many people want it (except for collectors for the obvious reasons) Most moms that buy their kids games aren't going to actively seek those games.

If a game like Grand Theft Auto is popular (like you wouldn't believe, even still) the buy back & selling price is more. But a game like Cookie and Cream which most people only buy cause it's in the $9.99 and lower price range would be lower in value. (Even though Gamestop bought it for $8 last week and turned around and sold it for $7.99. Same with Sagia: GS bought it for $5 and sold it for $2.49)

And let's not forget Tetris, the famous game of them all. Every one had one, and especially any owner of a Gameboy had one. It was a pack in cart, none too special, yet because of the name somehow GS still feels the need to pull in $19.99 for a used one for GB. And only because of the name....So that makes the point that you can have a common game, but the "name" of it drives up the price.

I don't know if I made any sense here, but I hope it sheds some light.

Thanks, I figured this would come in handy for us wondering about these.
