Default Marble Madness: any games similar?

I am curious if there are any games out there for any system that try to replicate the game style and play of Marble Madness (NES, SMS, Arcade, Genesis, etc.). Marble Madness is such a classic and unfortunately, no sequels were ever made.

I have played only 1 game that I would consider similar: Super Monkey Ball for GBA, but this game was so awful and had the worst game controls possible, IMO.

So, is there anything *decent* out there that involves maneuvering a ball around like Marble Madness? I know there has gotta be a few, especially since I read in a history of video games book how the game was quite popular in the 80's and had many copycats.

    Thanks!

    -John

Actually, Mercury on the PSPS is basically Marble MAdness combined with Super Monkey Ball. =)

    Try it.

A sequel was made. Marble Madness 2: Marble Man. It didn't go into production, but it was finished.

Super Monkey Ball (and SMB 2) is/are just about the only game(s) like Marble Madness. And they're both awesome games with perfect controls. Either you're really bad at Super Monkey Ball :P, or you need to play the versions released on the GameCube, the PS2 and XBox, they're all much better than the GBA version (which is still pretty good).
Selling collection, Atari through XBox. Send a PM with whatever games you're looking for.

There was a great game called Gyroscope for the C64 that I used to play. I do not know if it was made for any other system.

I do believe there is a 3-d "remake" somewhere around, but I cannot recall the name of it.

There was a game for the PS1 called Ball Breakers that I always thought was just like Marble Madness. With weapons. And combat. At any rate, it wasn't as bad as its budget price would suggest, but don't expect it to be Zelda or anything.

You may want to try Mojo! for the PS2/XBOX as well as Roll Away for PS1/PS2.

Ballance for the PC is sort of similar... it's almost a puzzle game, since you have to pick the right type of ball, and do things in a certain order, but it's very fun, and plays similarly to Marble Madness. I'd really like to try the game out with a trackball, so once I get my MAME cab together, I'll see how that goes .

I love Marble Madness, itīs one of my favorite games for the Nes, and I can get some pretty high scores in it There are some similar games in 80īs computers, like Gyroscope, Bobby Bearing, and some more.

Awesome! Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Some of those games mentioned look like futuristic versions of Marble Madness! Especially Ballance!

I have Roll Away for PSX and completely forgot about it. What an awesome game.. it involves a ball collecting pieces in a limited time, but the same concept as Marble Madness is in full swing!

Mojo.. Ahh, yes now I remember. I saw this game for sale a few months ago and couldn't remember the title. I said to myself how much it looks like an updated version of MM. I gotta check this one out for sure!

    Keep the good replies coming!!

Spindizzy (C64) springs to mind. Exploring the big game world is quite tricky, here is a screenshot map of the game.

Aside from Gyroscope and Spindizzy for the C64, there's also Red LED on top.

Rolling Madness 3D is the most amazing re-creation of Marble Madness I've ever seen.
    Wingdings ate my mind.

One game that hasn't been mentioned yet is Paul Slocum's 2600 homebrew, Marble Craze. The controls are two paddle controls per player, with one paddle for vertical movement, one for horizontal. It has a two-player simultaneous mode and some of the best music ever made for the 2600.

sorry to revive this old thread (that's why they are left open no? ) but one of my favorite marble maddness-esque games is spindizzy worlds. I see spindizzy mentioned for C64, but not spindizzy worlds for snes. afaik it is pretty easy to find online. I haven't seen any copies in stores. ( I bought it from a vhs rental place that was going out of business in the mid 90s)

do a google search for reviews and google image search for some screen shots
