    Default Stubborn CD

Alright, my frrend, who has zero money, bought a GH Symphony of the Night some time ago. Thing is, there is a scratch in the REFLECTIVE COATING ON THE TOP of the CD. THE LABEL SIDE. Anyone have any idea on any sort of fix for this? For a while, it would play if he heated it over a lamp first (weird, I know) but it's stopped even that now. Any help would be appreciated.

    Ouch.

    It's a coaster.

The lable side is where all the data is held. If you can see through the
scratch then it's 100% a coaster. otherwise someone else will have to
answer, I don't know about the different degrees of this problem.

Sorry it's a goner. I've ruined a few CDs and I know even a slightest hairline scratch or crack on the label side can render the data unreadable.

If your CD was still readable and not crashing or skipping, I would have suggested a clear laminated sheet on the label side ASAP to prevent further damage.
