Default Blaze Home Arcade Twin Shock PSX any good?

I noticed this monster in the local game shop today and wondered if it was any good or possibly usefull for anything outside of PSX with a little modding.

If you do anything with MAME, I recommend this thing. Get yourself a couple of PSX to USB adapters and you are set. Works like a charm.

@fcw3: If you have two PSX->USB adapters, can you use both joysticks of the Twin Shock simultaneously with MAME (for Robotron, naturally)?

I have a Twin Shock and 1 PSX->USB adapter, but unfortunately not enough table space around my PC to use the thing! Eventually I'll make some room for it.

The Blaze Twin Shock is now mine. It's a nice black "limited edition" one too. Also picked up the USB adapter. MAME here I come.

Yep. I have had it hooked up that way. It looks at one as Joystick 1 and the other as Joystick 2. And then you have all of those buttons to work with as well. Very flexiable.

With 2 USB adapters and 2 ports, both sides of the stick can hooked up.

I wrote an article for Retrogaming Times about this stick. It can be found at http://www.tomheroes.com/Video%20Gam...0Our%20Prayers

I think they all were the "Limited edition" black and red. I have never seen or heard of anyone getting any other color. Blaze did make a Dreamcast version that had neon colors.

Has anyone ever seen the grey PSX version ?

No, but I have two of their Pro Shock Arcade sticks for the PSX (I'm pretty sure it was Blaze that made these), and I love 'em. Makes all the old-school stuff feel more like the real deal - I can once again kick respectable quantities of Xevious ass. As it should be.

Any way you can post us a picture of this monster?

I can take a pic of mine tonight. For now, here's a pic from another site:

Where do you go to buy one of these retail? Or is there a place to order online?

    Default beware!

Beware! I used one of these for MAME and wore it out in a couple months.

I had previously used the TS exclusively with the PSX version of Robotron (on the Williams disc) and it was fantastic. But once I started to use it every day w/ MAME, the left joystick got worn out and is now stiff and unresponsive (the right stick is fine, but it is an offense to my sensibilities to use the right joystick in a one player game).

I blame Kung Fu Master. Know how you have to violently jiggle the joystick when you get caught?

Oh, you must get a Circuit City trakball to use with this setup. You can set it right in that space in the middle of the console (where it says Blaze). It won't slip. Using this setup you can get perfect control out of Pole Position, Paperboy, and Spy Hunter (use the joystick for gas/brake and the trak ball for steering and buttons).

Though KFM was one of my favourites I will remember to avoid it. I'm just getting an old P166 I have set up to run MAME with this beast. I will definitely look into the trackball idea. For the record, I picked this up at my local independant gamestore for $25 CAN. APPRX. $16 USD. Not too shabby!
