    Default Is my Silpheed screwy?

Just the other day, I got myself a nice minty fresh new copy of Silpheed for the Sega CD. I had played it when it first came out years ago and thought it was pretty good and showed off what the Sega CD could do. So, my game arrives, everything is perfect looking, and I pop in the game and I see something odd....During gameplay, you know how the game screen almost looks like its in widescreen? Well, on the bottom half, there always seems to be something that looks like static or something...JUST in that bottom half! IS this normal? I don't recall seeing that when I played the game years ago. I even tried it on my CDX and the same thing happens! Any thoughts?

strange, That's one of my all time favorites and I don't remember anything like that at all. And I spent a lot of time playing it (could never beat the last enemy, impossible I tell you!) This has inspired me to take out my sega cd system and I will let you know what happens.

Maybe the picture on your telly is set too small? If not adjusted correctly my monitor shows garbage on the bottom of the screen when playing Mega Drive games.

How much of the screen is showing it? If it's just a little bit, it's normal. Some TV's will show more than they should. I see it once in a while on certain games.

Since the game looks like its in widescreen when you play it, the bottom half (the area thats only black on the bottom) is where I see it. My television is a good 36 inch size, so maybe it IS that some TVs show TOO much. However, I was recording it to put on a dvd, and when i checked the dvd on a smaller tv, you could still see it. Hmmm.....

Silpheed is one of my favorite Sega CD games. And I can confirm, without a doubt, that there are a few "interference lines" that show up in the bottom black band as you play. However, since it doesn't cross into the field of play, it's never bothered me. I'll confirm it, but I don't know what causes it.

The static/interference lines are VERY noticeable on the PAL version, mainly because of our squished display.

It's very annoying, but I just considered it normal. A lot of Mega Drive games do the same thing.

Oh how I wish for a 60Hz Mega Drive.

I've noticed the same thing with my two copies of Silpheed as well.

The last level boss is incredibly hard (actually I've bet every shooter I ever player except this one) I tried to beat it for a year, at the end there's a big thing that opens like a flower with green things like eyes. You are supposed to shoot them all out but they all shoot at you. My best time to stay alive at that point is 5 seconds, and this was after a year of getting there. I will try again soon and be looking at ANY options for cheating!!!!

    ANYONE EVER BEAT THIS GAME?
