Sweet, Namco just unveiled the console versions of Soul Calibur 2, of which the Cube version contains an interesting little extra..

Yeah Xbox is getting Spawn "from comic books", and PS2 is getting Heihachi from Tekken.

Heihachi was obviously easy to secure, but I wonder how they worked out getting Link, and Spawn, interesting.

Wow, that pretty fucking cool. Excuse my language, but that's some motherfucking cool shit. I think I'll have to pick up the either the PS2 or GC version when it first comes out, and get the other when the price goes down. Xbox smells, so I have no need for that version until the console goes down to 50 bucks.

Link: They worked out a deal with Nintendo.

Spawn: They paid McFarlane for the rights to use Spawn.

Where's the mystery? :P

I'd say that Namco's using Spawn because McFarlane designed Necrid, a new character who will appear in all of the home versions of Soul Calibur II.

When I first saw this a couple of days ago, I thought it was a hoax. But, I traced the image back to Namco.jp and was delighted to be proven wrong. Damn, if there was EVER a selling point for the GC version of this game, you're looking at it.
