Default Voice acting in Xenosaga Ep. I

In my previous post I mentioned my PS2 ate my Wizardry: TOFL disc. I was still in an RPG mood, so I popped in the Xenosaga Ep. I GH version I snagged last year for cheap but never tried. Well, I am doing the training part of the game now but am getting soooo irritated at the voice acting! It reminds me of those poor dubs of older anime shows.

So, does the acting get better as the game goes along? I normally prefer games with minimal or no voicing, or the original Japanese soundtrack with subs when available (since the Japanese seem to use high-quality actors in their voicing, such as Disgaea). I'm sure I can turn the voices off and just read the subs, but I guess I am a bit turned off. Is the game really worth my frustration, or am I better served to moving along to something else?

Seriously, this (and Disgaea) is my favorite RPG on the PS2, though I never had a problem with the voice acting.

Either way, I found the story to be incredible. It's a shame that Xenosaga 2 is so god-awful that I can't bring myself to play it any more (suffered through 14 hours).

I've never been one to care too much about bad or good dubbing; I've never been able to identify with the complaints most people have about a given dubbing job, but I'll definatly agree that Xenosaga's dub is awful. I've only been able to play Xenosaga up to the point were Junior and his harem show up, but once that bimbo with the inconsistant southern-like accent starts talking, I just have to stop. Of course I can't say I can really stand anyone's voice in that game, and this is coming from someone who's played through the American release of Shining Force 3 several times and has yet to turn the sound off.

I have never saw when I played where the voice acting was that bad at all

I think it's a great game and really the voice acting is a mineute point nothing important about it

so Im not in the same boat as others who can't play the game because of it

but l understand if you don't like the voice acting and it ruins the game for you.

everyone's different it's all good though
