Default One of my auctions is attracting unwanted bidders...

But I won't say which one. The purpose of this thread is not to attract people to my auctions but to let others know of one scumbag who uses two different eBay names, and what he's trying to do.

One of my auctions is for two items (one of which routinely sells on eBay for over $20 ALONE), and in the last few hours I have received one offer to buy it now for $10 - when the item wasn't even listed as such!

Q: WILL YOU DO A 10 DOLLAR BUY IT NOW
A: Dear 420pinballer, no. Additionally, requesting that I sell the item outside of the already-specified listing is against eBay policy, and you have been reported to the proper moderators. Have a nice day.

Yes, I printed his eBay name. A while later I get ANOTHER question, which goes like so:

Q: i asked you to add a buy it now.. how is that breaking any rules..
A: You are requesting me to change the format of my auction. I will not do such a thing. You're basically trying to beat other prospective bidders from even attempting to buy the item. I will let the auction go on unchanged - and if the item does not get a high price, well, I'll just have to live with that. I'd rather have someone buy the item legitimately than to allow someone like you to perpetuate such a scam. You should be ashamed of yourself.

The fun thing was that the guy used a DIFFERENT name to ask the question! The user name was niremor.

I've already blocked those two usernames from bidding on my items. I won't tolerate such actions in my auctions.

Why yes, I am an evil bastard. Damn skippy.

Let's see. Having multiple user names is allowed. Adding BINs to open auctions without bids are allowed. Asking someone if he'll set a $10 BIN is allowed. Just say no or ignore it. It happens all the time. Jeez..... over react much.

It is? I believed that it was regarded as being the same as asking to make a sale outside of eBay.

It still isn't nice in my book.

You are allowed to end the auction and sell it to the high bidder for the bid price. Although I don't think many auctions that are ended early are sold for that price. On my work Ebay auctions we state in the description that we won't end the auction early but we still get several requests per week.

That must be why you don't like him. Selling that cheap repro for top dollar like that. You go girl.

Having said that, I've seen two uses of the name Kitsune in comics (one being Usagi Yojimbo) and both are female

If you're talking about the girl in Love Hina, she's named Mitsune (I think). Kitsune's just a nickname.

I've been using this nick since 1996 or so. Before I even knew about those comics. :P

Anyway, getting back on track - I just got ANOTHER weird email, but this time... it ... just boggled me. This is for an auction that, at the time of this post, will end in about three minutes.

Someone with the eBay username "ashlee9874189" sent me this message through the eBay system:
A company is looking for a partner (person or organization) to represent
us and accept payments on our behalf for a reward of certain per cent of
sales volume. Payments will be paid for our goods from US customers in
form of paypal payment, cashier's check or MO. It is not needed to spend
personal funds to begin. Further info is available on demand. Get back to
me as soon as possible. Thank you,Ashlee
Could someone explain to me what in the HELL is this person trying to sell me?

I got that same question asked. Delete it. Its just spam. There is lots of spam like that from people on Ebay.

Yes, all of the above is legal. Now, if you had blocked 420pinballer and then he bid on your item with a different account, that is illegal and if you catch someone for it and turn them in, the account is immediately terminated.
Completed 60+ trades here on digital press.

FYI Asking a seller to change an auction to include a buy it now is NOT against any eBay rules. does this practise suck for all others bidders agree if the seller agrees? Yes. Is the seller obligated to change the auction if he doesn't want to? No. What IS against the rules is if the bidder asked you to sell him the item outside of eBay which it doesn't appear to be what he did.

Allright, understood. I don't like the practice, so next time I get something like that, I'll just say "No, I don't like those kinds of practices, and will not do that in my auctions."

    Sorry for overreacting.
