Default Japanese Gamecube 'larger than usual' Boxes

    Hello everyone

I apologise if this belongs in Import-Mania or if its already been talked about before (I did have a quick check and found nothing)

Ok, so my Nintendo Puzzle Collection arrives from Play Asia today (along side a snes-style hori GC pad, although thats irrelevant) It looks great, It just got me wondering of what Japanese GCN games came in irregular boxes.

Off the top of my head, I came up with:

    Fat Boxes
Nintendo Puzzle Collection w/GBA to GC lead
Pokemon Box w/GBA to GC lead
Shikigami no Shiro 2 w/small toy cat (sorry, dont know its name)

Anyone know if the above three are the exact same size?

    Long Boxes
Zelda Four Swords w/GBA to GC lead
Final Fantasy Cyrstal Chronicles w/GBA to GC lead
Baten Kaitos (i think they put two normal Japanese GC boxes in a longer box because its a two disc game)

Now, Im pretty sure some of the Biohazard titles had a boxes which were a tadge wider (for the included memory card i guess) Can anyone confirm this?

Also, Wasnt there an Animal Crossing & E-Reader combo? And didnt some of the Zoids games come with big ol' Zoids toys? Im not sure... Thats where I need your help..

    Thanks,

    Joe.

I remember the first biohazrd that came with a memory card. It was pretty much the exact same size as a normal. Yet it was a bit thicker I think.
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

The biohazard boxes were slightly wider because some of them were 2 disk versions. The 2 disk boxes are slightly fatter.

As for the fat boxed sets they are roughly all the same size but some are thicker than others.

Heres a pic of all the ones i have so you can see the size comparison.

And heres them from the side as you can see they are all the same size just some are thicker.

Heres all the fat boxed sets for gc.

Pokemon box (w/ gba link cable)
Shikigami no shiro II (w/ cat figure)

    Mario party 6 (w/ microphone)
Bakuten beyblade shoot 2002 (w/ beyblade)
Nintendo puzzle collection (w/ gba link cable)
    Phantasy star online (w/ modem)
    Homeland (w/ broadband adapter)

Bigger boxed sets (bigger than fat ones)

    Zoids (w/ zoid figure)
Wrestlemania (cant remember which) (w/ tshirt & mug)
    Biohazard collection
Dance dance revolution starring mario (w/ dance mat)
    Donkey konga (w/ tarukonga controller)
Donkey konga 1 & 2 boxed set (w/ tarukonga controller)

Hehe, hey i was curious, beyblade looked fun on the box. Oh well its one for the collection i guess. Umm comes with a rare beyblade if your into that sort of thing.

A pedometer is a device you use for walking you clip it on yourself & it tells you how many steps you have taken.

Ohenro san is a very weird game, ou have to go on a pilgrimage across japan visiting temples. You could get a controller that plugged in & you walk on the spot plus you use the pedometer to count your steps & then plug it back into the gamecube to update the game with your progress.

It was mainly designed for old people who want to do the pilgrimage but dont have the health to do it for real.

Any Japanese Cube game with 2 discs comes in a double sided case that is wider than a standard one too.

Games I own like that off hand are:

    Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes
    Dragon Drive
Some of the Japanese demo pod releases

    damn...I have to get this!
So you basicly go on a sight-seeing trip in real-time 3D?
    Is this correct?
Man,this reminds me of this bus-driving simulation for DC.
It must be similar or even more weird to play.

edit: just had a closer look at the screenshots and it seems that you walk(in real) on a 2D map and then you can watch some Photo-slideshow of the temples. oh well.

Click the NTSC-J tab... will tell you which ones I own, though I haven't put in the comment field which ones are single discs, and which ones come with two.

Still looking for the Metal Gear one myself. Though I might bite the bullet and get a Foxhound Cube bundle to have it.
