Default Shenmue 3 news - apparantely "ready" for next gen

    http://games.kikizo.com/news/200508/141_p1.asp

    See link for full info.
Well, hopefully this turns out to be true, I still have my doubts, as with any Shenmue news.
To sum up the article - the rest of the Shenmue saga (chapters 7-16) is apparantely "theoretically complete and waiting to be ported to Xbox 360, PS3 or Revolution" depending on who Sega can strike a deal with for the whole series. According to Adam Doree of Kikizo, AM2 have been working on this since the last game and Yu Suzuki has had no involvement since he left AM2 but the story should remain intact because it was all written prior to his departure.

I'm still in too much of a shock to have taken in the news properly but hopefully this means at least another Shenmue game will be released.

He left a very long time ago actually. I unfortunately think this is bullshit, but would like to see it materialize.

This statement pretty much sums it up for me:

What precisely is the status of development completion? First our source confirms what most fans already knew, "the story is entirely done", (we're pretty sure the story had been finished since before the release of Shenmue 2) before elaborating, "the texture and modelling work is ready, they know what their characters look like and there's hundreds of gigabytes of [uncompressed] textures. Game designs are done. There is no more research to be done. It's a matter of 'porting' to whatever [console]."

I think many of us here has know this for years

The actual games are finished and have been as far as code, storyline etc, they simply need to be ported to whatever Next-gen system they decide on.

Of course this doesnt mean that it WILL happen but with an all-but-finished game setting on the shelves Im sure Sega will release it on at least one Next-gen.

The Xbox360 seems most likely but who knows theres even a slight possiblity that it could be a Multi-port this time around.

    Heres Hoping

I dont' care what system it comes out on, so long as it comes out, and I will purchase whatever system it is released on.

Far as I'm concerned, a new, shiny-fied, well-done complete Shenmue saga (1-16) is enough to completely justify a new system purchase in and of itself.

I pray to God that this new is true. Having Shenmue Chapters 1-16 on one disc (preferably for 360) would be amazing.

This is the most exciting game news I've heard since E3.

Although, the lack of Suzuki involvement worries me a bit. Im sure it'll be fine. Then again, if they do screw up the third instalment (which is unlikely) having the first two again would be great anyway.

I'm almost as excited for this game to come out as I am for Twilight Princess to come out. I'm really hoping that they chose to release a version of this on the Revolution. That would be awesome.

The funny thing about shenmue is this: my brother asked me 2 days ago what game he should get for xbox that would take a long time to beat, but would be extremely fun. Of course i told him shenmue 2, and he had no clue what the game was.

i really want the next chapter to come out, but we do have to think about it, if we ask a normal gamer about shenmue, many of them will have absolutely no clue what it is.

if it comes out, i will buy whatever system it comes out for on that exact day.

I'll bet all three console developers are currently engaged in a massive bidding war for exclusive rights to this.

"Why, it could be the next Shenmue 2!"

Well, Yu Suzuki has always said that he has written the entire storyline but it is news that they have finished the code. For 16 chapters thats a hell of a lot of code, not to mention graphics, especially considering that each chapter takes place in a different location and they are (well have been so far) packed full of detail. Not to mention that it took months to record the voices for the 2 games already released and this will add a lengthy delay.

I can't wait until Sega do a deal with a company and release some details or do an interview or anything. If this ever comes out, there is no doubt that I will pay whatever to get the console it comes out on.

Shenmue 3 will decide for me which next gen system I will buy. As of right now I don't have much interest in the next-gen - I'm perfectly content with the overload of (too many) games to play right now for PS2, Cube, PSP & DS.

But Shenmue 3! I sure hope they get the same voice actor for Ryo.

The only thing that I'm anticpating nearly as much as Shenmue 3 is FF Advent Children and then the DS Going online.

    I sure hope this happens.

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything!

Seconded. Shenmue = Shizzle. I've only played I so far, but have my import copy of II (*ahem - on the Dreamcast the way God intended us to play Shenmue) ready to go as soon as I finish GTA:SA.

Shenmue III would most definitely be a good case for buying one console - whatever that may be - to play only one game.

I hope this is true. I would definitely look into buying the system or systems that would have this game.

Here's a question for everyone, would you want the same Dreamcast graphics or new improved graphics? I remember everyone was disappointed about the outdated graphics on the XBOX. It didn't bother me at all, just as long as it had the same story line.
