32" LCD tv for under $1000?

I've been looking for a LCD tv, under a 1000, and the specs on the syntax olieva 32" are better than 90% of the other brands that sell for twice the money, i found several places on the net selling them for 899 plus 80 or free shipping. does anybody have these tvs, or know anything about them. ! 1200:1 contrast ratio is awesome for games

The best place to go for info on TVs is the AVS Forums. The LCD and Plasma forum in particular has many posts about Olevia LCD TVs. LCD prices have been steadily dropping for the past year or so, and I recently saw an article saying they supposed to drop even more sharply this fall. Personally I am going to wait until after the holidays before considering buying, both for price reasons and because there are still new displays coming out this fall. Some other "non-name brands" to look at include Westinghouse, Sceptre (which is just coming out with a 37" 1920x1080 display for less than $2k), and BenQ.
