Default Wow. The Atari Lynx is pretty damn impressive!

I have a lot of Atari Lynx stuff, and I actually have no freaking idea as to the value of it.

    Here is what I got:

    1. Atari Lynx System - Version 1 - Screen is in good shape, works with batteries or AC Adapter, good overall cond.

    2. AC Adapter for Lynx

    3. Car Adapter for Lynx

    Games:

    Warbirds

    Xenophobe

    Shanghai

    Xybots

    Tournament Cyberball

    Awesome Golf

    Baseball Heroes

    Dracula - The Undead

    Gauntlet

    Hard Drivin

    Hydra

    Rampage

    Rygar

Now I'm guessing that the Lynx, with the AC Adapter and Car Adapter is probably worth about $40 to $50 or so?

As of the games, I would guess anywhere from as little as $2 or $3 to as high as $20

The games are all lose. As well as the system.

I might put this package up on Ebay, I kinda wanted to keep it, but I'm so freaking broke right now.

Are there certain games that I should definitely sell individually?

Should I sell the system individually?

And tips or pointers about this would be greatly appreciated. Again, I have no idea as to the value of Atari Lynx stuff.

    *sigh*

Since you're not offering anything for sale, and you're not looking to buy, this post doesn't go in the buying/selling forum.

Also, you can use the online rarity guide to find the values for all the games you're looking for.

    Wow.

Originally, I was thinking that maybe I was going to sell the Atari Lynx that I just got. So I did a post asking people what they thought the value of this stuff was, because I was going to throw it up for sale.

But now, I don't think I'm going to do that.

I just got done playing Gauntlet for the Lynx, and that is a pretty amazing game.

I couldn't believe they used the screen vertically like that, and at first, I thought it would be impossible to control, but after awhile you get accustomed to controlling it like that, and the music and graphics and everything just has this really cool flavor to it.

This portable is pretty damn smooth if you ask me. The thing is so huge, but it's actually comfortable. I have the Lynx 1.

I actually owned this system way back in the days, but only for about 3 weeks. I bought it, and the NFL football game and one other game, and I didn't like it all that much and ended up returning it and getting my money back.

    I never ever re-visited it.

Until just this week. I bought that Lynx package at a thrift store for $16.

Man, you know what else???? Just tonite, I freaking broke the hinge for the thing that covers the cartridge slot. I don't know how I did it, it was like I was trying to force the thing open, and I ended up breaking the little plastic hinge off it that holds it down. So now, I have to put tape on it. I wonder if I could get a good cart door from a broken lynx and replace that door.

Also, should I be interested in the Lynx II?

Like I said, I like the feel of the Lynx 1. I know it's reall huge, but it seems to be comfortable to me.

One thing that happened to my Lynx is that the paint wore off where I held it, so there was big white splotches on the side.

Other than that, I really liked it as a system. My favorites were Warbirds, RoadBlasters, Rygar and Ninja Gaiden.

I like the system as well. I have quite a few games for it, and out of all of them, my favorites are Ninja Gaiden and Rygar. I would love to try out the port of Ninja Gaiden III on it someday and see how it plays.

For the love of god, fix your return key. And every sentence doesnt need it's own paragraph. And yeah, the Lynx is cool.

I'm actually not a big fan of the Lynx. I think the hardware was very well designed and it had some great potential, but I feel that overall it was underutilized software. Also, I kind of feel like the library was saturated by arcade ports and sub-average brawlers. I suspect the inability of the card format to support a battery made longer and more elaborate games rather difficult to pull off. Every game felt like all sugar an no meal. Also, I was irked that entire genres like fighting and RPGs were not represented at all. Of course, none of this hasn't stopped me from collecting for it.

I bought my Lynx II for one reason: S.T.U.N. Runner on the go. Well that and playing Checkered Flag with the ComLynx cable - ahh, 8 player multiplayer.

The Lynx is great. My favorites were APB, Electrocop, and Todd's Adventure in the Slime World. I also love how when you turn to machine on with no game in the slot, it says "EMAG TRESNI". They screwed up when they were designing it. It's supposed to say "INSERT GAME", but they just left it that way. Quality.

    Default viking child

I always loved the Lynx for Viking Child, I guess as close to a RPG as the Lynx ever got.

If you get a chance, check out Alien vs Predator for it. Although not a complete title (it's more a demo of a level) it really rocked that system! (too bad they pulled the plug, maybe one of our homebrew friends will finish it someday!)

Centipede was another, it's available in prototype copy... missing a few things but fun! (and handled much like Gauntlet, sideways!)

I just got myself a Lynx II and have a question about the Backlight button.
If I'm playing with backlight on and I push that button the screen will turn black. It's not a big deal, but is it normal?

Steve Kent noted that the Lynx, with its superior technology, should've in theory kicked GB's ass, but obvious it didn't.

He put the demise of it down to the battery drain.

What's even more impressive is that the Lynx was completed in 1987, but due to Epyx's nervousness about releasing it, sat on it until its rights were sold to Atari in 1989.

The fact that a portable system could compete graphically with what Atari was had on the market as their console system is a testament to its designers.

I think if the Lynx would have had Tetris, it would have beaten the Game Boy down, and possibly changed Atari's future.
