Default What do you do to prepare for a day long gaming session?

Often when I have a whole day to myself and I feel like playing games all day long. There are things that I do to prepare myself for the adventure, such as:

Clean my system outside and In so it looks and performs wonderfully.

Clean the dust off the TV screen.

    Clean the controllers.

Clean the contacts on my cartridges.

Get some snacks and drinks handy.

    Get comfortable.

    Sit down and play!

I make sure I pee before I do this, otherwise things could get real nasty...

Haha, well I suppose it depends on the system. I imagine mills is playing with a pre-NES system?

Personally, I adopt the STD theory of game-cleaning: The only way to get STD's is by being with someone who has one. If none of your games or systems are dirty, the contacts will stay perfect. So, I clean every item rigorously the day it enters my collection and never again--making sure to store it so that it won't get dirty.

I probably won't clean the controllers before an all-day session, either. They'll just be sweaty again at the end of the day!

Since it's an all-day session, I also won't want food. That just gets in the way. Usually, I concentrate my all-day sessions on one, really good game and play non-stop like I'm Korean. So, the only things I really do to get ready are...

OCD is out of the question, as I only get a chance to do this once every few months or so. I'm talking about my NES and SNES. All have been cleaned thoroughly already. I just like to clean off any extra dust or grime that may have accumulated in recent times. Also being stored in a wooden TV stand dust gathers rather quickly :/.

Well, the only type of games I set aside whole days-off to play are old-school RPG's. There are only two requirements that must be met for the day-of-gaming to get the go ahead:

1-Make sure I have any/all applicable maps ready and waiting ahead of time.

2-Test the save battery a couple of days ahead of time to make sure it's working.

Well, now that I'm married I can't have an all day gaming session :/ since my wife likes to watch tv too or she likes to have us go and do something. But hey, its completely understandable. But, when I do plan on having a pretty long gaming session I like doing it a night. Then, I turn off all of the lights except for one, which has a green light in it. It sets the mood or something :P I also have to make sure I have plenty of Cokes or Pepsis, and maybe some kind of snack like some Goldfish or something similar. Sometimes I even turn off the phone.

    Default all night gaming session

due to my job I cannot do an all day session, but I have done an all nighter beating Magician Lord with some close friends. Here is what I supply

A place to sit for both me and my friends(pillows, bean bags, etc)

    Snack Food(chips, cookies)

    Drinks(Mt. Dew, Pepsi, Water)

No Maps, No Guides(good old fashoned teamwork!)

A working system with working games that friends want to play. Although I am a big collector, I usually use my banged up systems to play on. As long as they work!

I just get ready to ignore the phone, wear comfortable lazing-around clothes and make a big mug of hot tea. This is what makes Canadian winters so great. It's too damned cold to do much else BUT have all-day sessions. I will be buying a PSP tomorrow and will in fact enjoy opening and testing out the list of games that I am going to buy.

Being a married father of two being given a whole day to game is a blue moon event, but it does happen. So when it does, I move my chair from the desk to the console shelves and turn on the appropriate power button. That's about it.

Food, etc will take care of itself, meaning I get up and eat when I'm ready to eat. Although what happens in these situation is that I have a tendency to wind up eating meals 2-3 hours later than I normally would.

An ideal "all day" gaming session for me would go from about 0830 to 0230. The only sucky part would be the dreaming about whatever I was playing all day long. I find dreaming about gameplay very unsettling. But if you're going to play, be prepared to pay, right?

Actually, I grab a stack of comics. My eyes tend to get dry easily, and will usually hurt after several hours of staring at a screen. To remedy this, I'll read in-between gaming sessions.

Naturally, I don't want to read anything too heavy during my days off, so comics are the usual choice. Alan Moore and Dave Sim are about as heavy as I'll get.

Usually I just get as much food and drinks as possible. Set some pillows and blankets down to get comfortable, and just start playing. It's even better having friends over, just because it doesn't feel right being alone. You gotta spread the fun, man.
