Wow man. I just played the game in an emulator and it's pretty fun.

    Maybe next time.

Then you should have had a higher max set in the first place. I've manually sniped someone with 6 seconds before, as well as used programs and been the only bidder on the item. And been sniped on things. My personal snipe grief was a 1 second snipe that ended the game I was looking at getting at 1300 dollars (yes 1,300)

Whenever i'm home and a auction i'm watching is coming to an end, I open 2 windows, one that stays on the auction page constantly refreshed and the other has a newer higher bid in it and set so all I have to do is click submit (that second time) and the retaliatory bid is in place.

and to be safe sometimes its nice not to bid on such round numbers. Those 20.72's and things can save you sometimes.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Why not just enter that "higher bid" in the first place and not take a chance? If you're going to loose an auction, loose knowing that at least you made your best offer.

Ye, it might work. But lets say you put a max bid on $20 and the startbid is $1.
Sometimes a user bid like 10 times before he gets upto $20 because he also really want the item. This might cause a bidwar or push the price really high in the beginging.

I put a high bid not long ago and placed the bid maybe 4 days before it ended. I won, but just barley. Won it for about $90, but if I hadnt put a high bid in the begining and sniped it instead, it might have ended up on $60.

i'm used to snipers, but they usually whack me around the 40 second mark and if i really want it, i'll cram my money into a bid. the problem with this was that i totally wasn't expecting anyone else to notice the game (as its not exactly well known, i found it out by scanning entire sfc pic databases) so i didn't have my sensews in place.

Look on Ebay Japan for it and use the google translator to navigate your way through to the auction pages.
