Montezuma's Revenge for the SMS ...

Hi !

I'm new to Digital Press. I have the DP#7 and in the section for the SMS, it says that Montezuma's Revenge isn't playable on the Power Base converter.

Well, I used to play my SMS games with a Genesis pad (on the SMS) and the same problem occurs. I don't think the power base converter is in cause. The pad would be ? Has anyone experienced this before ?

I can't test it right now but in the case of the power base converter I don't think the controller is the problem. When I fist encountered this, I thought something was wrong with my controller so I unplugged it and the problem remained.

I don't have a Power Base Converter to test it, but have you tried playing this game with an SMS pad on the Genesis ? I had the same problem description playing this game with a GEN pad on my SMS and I thought the PBC wasn't the cause.

I can also be wrong and the PBC really is the problem.

There are several SMS games that are incompatible with Genesis pads. Off the top of my head; Montezuma, Wonderboy in Monsterland, and Alien Syndrome. If you have an extra Genesis pad, you can just cut the wire that goes to pin 7 on the controller, and it'll be fully SMS compatible.

So, the problem is related with the GEN pad ? I don't think I'm gonna try to cut my genesis pad but it's good to know, thanks

Why not just get a SMS pad instead? They're fairly common and you could probably get one for a few bucks plus shipping. Try eBay.

If you've played with NES' rectangular pad, SMS pad is very similiar so you should have an idea.
