I have volumne 1 number 1 though but thats really no help to you.

If Speedy_NES posts here often maybe he can help you.
I am pretty sure i was talking about these videos with him and he said he had a few of them.

I wonder how many of these were made, and if they were made for other systems?

Thanks for the list, I have unfortunately only one of them.

A related Q: does someone have a list of all promotional VHS-tapes from Nintendo?

I was and I am a subscriber of Nintendo Power, and I got the five following tapes:

Donkey Kong Country (title on box: "Enter the Jungle...Nov.21) 1994

Nintendo 64 ("Change the System. Launch Date Sept. 29") 1996.

    "Star Fox 64. Launch Date June 30, 1997." 1997

Diddy Kong Racing ("Get Ready! For the Must-Have Title of the Year! The Adventure Begins November 24th, 1997") 1997.

    Nintendo 64 ("Hot Newz64. Nsiders Guide to N64") 1999.

    Are there tapes missing?

The only other tapes I have are

"Street Fighter II Turbo. Hit Turbo Speed!" (Probably sent by Capcom. The address with my name (with typo) is from my GamePro subscription) 1993.

"Squaresoft on Playstation. Collector's Video. Exclusive Final Fantasy VII Interviews, Bushido Blade, Final Fantasy Tactics, Saga Frontier, and more!" 1997.

I remember running across one for Top Gear Rally for the N64, yep, here I am kicking myself for not buying it.

Ugh, the stupid things I do.

    Default 16 and counting...

Currently, I have 16 Game Player's GameTapes in my possession, which consist of an alternate (Proto?) Vol 1 No 1 tape and a tape designated solely for SMB2. I don't have current pictures but can provide them as I get free time to take them.

I received a Nintendo Power Banjo-Kazooie VHS tape in 1998. It was narrated by Jon Lovitz.

There was also a Nintendo Power promotional tape for Pokemon just before the game was released in the USA. It talked about both the game and the anime and what they were about.

I believe I have all the Gametapes ripped and uploaded but Volume 11, which I haven't found yet. The alternate volume 1, I'm not sure if it has different content on it. If so I'll have to get that one too obviously:

Plenty of other random old game VHS in here too:

Sixteen, wow. I thought I had the complete collection of 12. What are the 13-16? I'd love to see pics, including the proto!

I think I have most of them. The copy I picked up for gameboy had a broken cassette, which I tried to fix, gave up, and years later threw away the parts. Also didn't know there was a 14, 15, 16. I think I'm missing one in the 8 or 9ish range. Some day I'll complete the set.

While I've never seen it myself, I've heard from people who have that the only new content on Prototype Volume 1 is a ten minute segment on Super Mario Bros. I believe that it (along with the SMB 2 tape) was recalled because ABC/Signal didn't obtain the rights to use Nintendo properties in their videos--hence its rarity.

I think 16 is about it. I've heard rumors of a 17th tape (ANOTHER prototype Vol. 1 No. 1) that contains a segment on the first Mega Man game, but I question the veracity of such claims.

In terms of pictures--yes, please! I know that I for one would love to see what the cover of Prototype Vol. 1 No. 1 looks like--and hope to one day see at least the SMB segment on youtube (if I recall, the other three games are supposed to be on other tapes, so they're obviously of less interest).

I've got a few of the Nintendo ones and the Squaresoft one. Dunno why I got them, they just came in the mail sometimes, guess I was on a list somewhere. I didn't even watch most of them.

My man Arasoi has been uploading VHS tapes to Youtube, the RetroReality channel - check that out, and if you have anything that's not listed send him / me a note.
