Default Super Mario 2 (Lost Levels SNES) = HARD

MAN! I just tried "Lost Levels" for the first time yesterday on my Super Nintendo, and it is HARD. But strangely addictive. I died a hundred times in levels 2 & 3 but kept coming back for more!

Is this why Nintendo didn't release SMB2/Lost Levels for U.S. NES? They thought it was too hard for Americans? Why do the Japanese have this impression that Americans are too dumb to handle the hard games? (Like FF5 & FF4 Hard.)

Also, what was the U.S. version of SMB2 called in Japan?

One the reasons was caus eit is kinda a rehash (graphics-wise) of SMB1 and hard, so Nintendo of America wanted to give players something different, hense converting Doki Doki Panic into the U.S. SMB2.

The USA Super Mario Bros. 2 was called 'Super Mario USA' in Japan.

Ahhhh, no wonder SMB2-NES doesn't feel like a true Mario game. So what is Doki Doki Panic about?

For those who didn't notice before, Luigi got his tall and skinny look for SMB 2 (the character from Doki Doki Panic he replaced was also tall and slim). Before that, he was Mario's identical twin.

Sir, you are hardly in a position to be asking this question.

You play a good game, BOYYYYY!

I can't even get past those levels. They are very hard.

Thank god even the original Famicom one had a save feature (due to it being on disk system). Really cool though, I much woulda preferred it to doki doki mario.

I LOVED the Lost Levels...I thought they were a great addition to the Super Mario Bros. game I had mastered before.

And yes, I agree, some levels were very tough (that level of nothing but accordian jumps...that one took me three lives).

I don't mean to brag, but I beat the Lost Levels on my first try...it took me 5 lives!

I haven't touched it in years though...wonder if I still have the touch.
