Default Megadrive 2 - control ports 1 & 2 dont go left or right

    Got a Megadrive 2.

Extremely good cosmetic condition, the control ports 1 & 2 - neither will move left or right when you are playing a game..

    Anyone have any ideas?

Ive checked all the pins in the control ports - they are all perfect, none are broken or pushed in. I tested where the pins are in the socket, and where they are soldered into the mainboard, and they all connect fine.. continiuity is great..

Could this be a problem with a chip or something? I just dont have a clue on this one!

Silly question, but you tested different controllers right?

I was just about to ask that too. Did you only use the controllers that came with the system, how many controllers, can you get more to try anywhere around you easily, perhapes try your controllers on another Genny of MD if ya can, any of these?
I will get around to editing this thing again.

Yep, I have about 100 controllers, I tried about 5 different controllers on it, and all the same.

I tried one of the controllers that didnt work in another system, and it worked on that system!

Thats whats puzzling me so much, I dont know why the system wont move left or right?

It does sound like a chip problem -- the Atari 2600 also has these problems occasionally.

I wouldn't be able to tell which chip controls those functions, though. Maybe if you opened it up and took a look at the motherboard, you might find something that's not right.
