Default Longest game from start to finish

What game took the longest amount of time to finish? Now, let's not count RPG's, unless they are simple and DON'T include a save or password feature. My choice would have to be either Ikari Warriors for the NES, or Rampage. What do you guys think? What other games took an insane amount of time to beat?

Edit: This only includes games that were made to be beaten in one setting (without shutting saving the game, shutting it off, and returning at your save point at a later date). This also (duh!) doesn't include games that don't end.

Ghouls'n'Ghosts takes a relatively long time to beat, considering you have to play through the game twice to get the proper ending :/

OK, let me amend the topic a bit. Let's not count games where you must repeat the exact same levels. Taking that away, G&G is still pretty long, but I don't think nearly as long as the two I mentioned.

maybe you should put an approximate time you spent playing the game. might give a better frame of reference.

I haven't finished too many games w/ no passwords or saves.

Wonder Boy in monster land is pretty lengthy, but probably about an hour and a half.

Resident Evil Survivor was over 2hrs. Possibly 2 1/2.

Not counting racers either, since they never really "end".

I'm going to simply raise my hand and say "Ocarina Of Time". To get all of the skulltulas and black ghosts and whatnot took a VERY long time. I haven't finished it....but I'll bet that Donkey Kong 64 will take forever as well. All of those N64 Rare games had huge gameplay times.

Megaman 3 took me a long time to beat in one sitting.

Bionic Commando was also a long game as I remember.

I think that conquering every single level in Super Mario 3 would probably run a player close to 3 hours. I think my first time all the way through Bomberman II took about 4 1/2 hours but I continued something like 30 times. It certainly wouldn't take that long another time around. A straight through season of Tecmo Super Bowl with just one team would take a good chunk of a day too (but I bet that doesn't count either) ... if it did Tecmo NBA would have to be the longest game.

I suppose it would depend. I like the topic but there are a lot of variables. Mainly what constitutes length? Is it the time start to end that a resonable person person playing at a resonable speed to the end of the game. Or is it the 100% completion? IE I beat SSX 3 with one character got most of the items, beat most of the challanges and unlocked a lot of stuff. I call that beat. Or is beating SSX 3 with every character collecting everything and unlocking everything beating? That would alter the length considerably.

OOT certainly doesn't count, because it wasn't made to be beaten on one setting, which is why it has the save feature.

Far Cry Instincts is one long ass game. Took me about a combined 11+ hours to beat. But the longest game I ever played?, well i gotta think about it.

Sneaky! You added the "in one sitting" edit after I posted. My new vote is for most of the NES games, 'cos I really suck at them. I have yet to successfully do a run through the original Mario game.

Only game I can think of is Marioland, but I can complete that in one sitting in about 35 minutes. It takes determination to play it all the way through a second time though!

Not really counted, but certain games are completable in one sitting without saving. Games like Resident Evil, MGS, and Parasite Eve II for example... It takes a lot of guts to play the game through without saving once ~ If you mess up, that's a waste of a good few hours work!

If iI could mention RPGs, then "Final Fantasy 7".

Otherwise, "Jet Force Gemini" and "Donkey Kong 64" take the gold.

Duck Hunt doesn't end...the score just flips.

I beat Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom in about 15 or 16 hours in one sitting....though I probably wasn't supposed to. That was about 12 years ago, and by far my longest gaming session by probably 3x.

    It does when you die.

For me Blaster Master took me about 6 hours.

If anyone is playing this game for the first time I must say, save when ever you get the chance. I remember I was play FF7 from the begining and when I moved to the second disc I didn't save and then went on to fight red ruby then we got hit with a blackout. I was so mad. Stupidity though.
