Default VIC-20 Games on Cassette tapes?

Today I bought four boxes of Vic-20 stuff at a thrift store for $7.95

anyways, this lot came with some games on cassette tapes(Kongo Kong ect..). Are these's the real thing? Did they really sell games on cassette? I can't seem to find any info on the online rarity guide on these's.

    Default I sold my collection...but

I sold my collection off to DP, but I can tell you if you have the patience(load times that is)some of the cassette games are good. The problem now is to find games that work... . Four boxes for 7.95 huh? You made out! What were the games that you scored?

Yeah, interested to know what you got there. Sure the online guide only lists cartridges (which I maintain) but I am also part of GB20 to preserve all Vic20 games, so you might have gotten some stuff we don't have currently archived.

I'm not sure if my brother ever had any store bought cassette games for his Vic, but I do remember he would type progrmas in for it. They had a magazine that came out once a month if memory serves me correct it was called Compute Gazette and you could type in the program for your own games. I think there was another magazine called RUN that had programs in it. The only game I can even remember was Digger, it was a rip off of Dig Dug.

I was up till 2:30am geting the VIC-20 up and running what a trip to the past, all the carts work accept 2(out of about 20) and all the tape games seem to working(about 15-20)

I have to go to work in a few mins, so I'll give you guys a list later tonight

Even a price sheet came with the lot $14.95-20(these's are U.S prices) for tape games and up to $49.95 for some of the carts

The carts were pricy, not only because of being ROMs, but because the bigger games had RAM chips on as well to expand the memory at the same time I believe.

I came across a booklet of retail Vic games on tape from Cymbal Software Inc. 1983 ... all Copyright

6 tapes in the book, tape 3 and 4 are missing.
    Here are the games:

    Metro Dome
    Demon Hunt
    Horse Race
    Ice
    Star Fights
    Laser Shoot
    Frogs
    Rotate
    Safe
    Galactic Defender

There may be one more. The games are duplicated on the backside of each tape(which is good, because there are a few load errors.)
If you havent archived any of these games, I would be happy to send them to you, Mayhem.

@KingCobra - I could do with TAPs of the following games:

    Kongo Kong
    Scare City Motel
    Numbowl
    Ruler Dueler
    Backfire
    Sector Five
    LCM Machine

If you can't produce them yourself, I may ask for you to send them to me so I can do them (and I'll return).

@AlmostGotTheMail - there mighe be one or two already in the system, but program only, no TAP version. I would definitely like to transfer all that you listed though.
