Default Need to get a Monitor for MAME ded. PC

I think I've decided on a 21" CRT. Anybody know what I can expect to pay for one? Prices seem to vary wildly on these things.

I got a bunch at an auction a year or so ago for $75 each. Older monitors work fine, but the older a monitor is (particularly in the 21" size) the bigger and heavier it's likely to be. Depending on your cabinet, you may want to reinforce your monitor shelf.

My next cabinet will definitely use either a television or a real arcade monitor. I have a 21" CRT in mine right now and it's just not the same IMHO.

Oh, I'm not going to build a cab, I just want a setup like Joe has in his room of doom.

For that, a monitor would probably work okay. It's going to physically look like a monitor, so people expect the screen to look like one too (if that makes sense). It's just when you put one in a cabinet and people expect it to look like an arcade monitor and it doesn't, things go awry.

I'm sure you should be able to find a used one around town for $100 or so. If you can't, you might consider picking up a television and getting a video card with TV out (the last one I bought for $30 had s-video out built in). Then you could hook systems up to the TV too, if space becomes an issue! Either way, good luck with whatever you decide!
