Default Using the original Intellivision controller on the Xbox

I did a search and couldn't find anywhere this has been discussed here before. I'm getting an Xbox with some emulators installed on it, one of which is an Intellivision emulator. (This question can also apply to the Xbox "Intellvision Lives" game, which I also will probably get, for the extras if nothing else.) As we all know, you just can't play Intellivision games properly without the original Intellivision controller. Fortunately, I've got a Sears Super Video Arcade with the detachable controllers. I did some searching on the web and I think I've found a way to hook them up to my Xbox, but just wanted to confirm and see if this hookup will work.

If I get an Intellivision to USB adapter such as this one:

    http://www.retrousb.com/intellivision.html

and then hook it up to a USB to X-box adapter such as this one:

    http://www.jandaman.com/games.mvc?p=...gory_code=XBOX

and then plug that into my Xbox, will I be able to properly use the Intellivision controller on my Xbox with the Intellvision emulator and/or Intellivision lives? I certainly won't hesitate to spend the $35 or so to get these cables if they will indeed work.

    Thanks!

Great question. I can't really help, but at least if you spent the money and it didn't work, you could always use the devices for other uses...

If you do decide to do it, I'd love to hear how it turned out!

Haven't had a chance to post on xboxscene yet, but just thought I'd try here one more time to see if anyone knew the answer to my query. So it definitely doesn't work with Intellivision Lives--you've tried it? Anyone know about Intellvision emulator compatibility?

well, if that wont work....he has an emulator, and if it will work with that, he can easily download the roms and throw them on instead of getting a $20 game with a limited selection of games on it.....all the games for free + cost of wires seems pretty good

id love to hear if it works

The game wasn't programmed with the intention of using an original Intellivision controller.

What you're trying to do is like hooking up a 2600 controller with a Stelladapter into a PS2's USB port and expect it to work with Atari Anthology (I guess they did consider it but the fact that it wasn't programmed that way means its not possible).

However if you can get the authors of whatever Xbox emulator you're using to impliment it I guess it could be possible. I wouldn't hold out much hope for it though.

The reason I thought it would work was because it seems that I read somewhere--I swear that it was on the Blue Sky Rangers website but can't seem to find the info now--that you could use the original Intellivision controller (with adapter) with the PC version of Intellivision Lives/Rocks. Was I just imagining that? If that's true, I thought that it might be compatible with the Xbox version of Intv Lives and/or any Intv emulators. And the fact that that adapter exists (see my link above) indicates that you should be able to use the original Intv controller with something. Just wanted to get the skinny before I started buying adapters that may or may not work for my purposes.

I think the emulator would have to be programmed for what you are doing, or it will think the controller is just an Xbox controller, and treat it as so.

On another note, the Sega controller works fine on the Intellivision Atari adaptor (ya totally random, but I did this the other day, and thought it was fitting here)
