Tough choice, but I'll go with super breakout for some reason.

Here's a thought, how come noone's tried doing an Arkanoid clone on the 2600, seems easy enough to do.

    Default Actually...

...Off The Wall was kinda sorta the same game. It was more a derivitive than an outright clone, but there was definitely Arkanoid influence there, right down to the ability to collect power-ups.

I too voted for Super Breakout just for the madness that is the Cavity Game, but hey...no Gee Bee option in the poll? How soon they forget. :P

I took Arkanoid. Lots of options and very good graphics and gameplay for the day.

Yeah! WAAAHHHH! Where's Gee Bee?! I *prefer* the pinball style Breakout games! But I guess I'll take Arkanoid just because it's the best of this rather weak selection.

    Default Hmm.

    What, no Free Kick??

It comes down to Super Breakout and Arkanoid... based on the variety factor, I'll go with Arkanoid. Plus it has that cool board that's really a Space Invader.

I went with Arkanoid on this poll. I found this game in a ghetto laundromat recently, and it was in good condition. I enjoyed how the levels were designed, the power-ups were a plus, and the dial made it worthwhile. I would've played further, but my racist father wanted me to leave because that place made him uncomfortable for obvious reasons. That laundromat also had Gun Force, a Metal Slug 2 converted on a Fabtec cabinet (the Grenade button didn't work, yet I still managed to get to the third stage on a single quarter), a Terminator 2 pinball machine, an out of order Ridge Racer 2, a broken Raiden, and Ms. Pac Man.

Sorry for the weak selection as said, but those were the only ones I have played and thought of. Actually I think it would be cool if someone here with the knowledge of a greater selection were to set up a poll, then we could lock this and see the " true " winner of this type of game.

    Lets do it!

I've got to go with the original 2600 Breakout (or the version on the Video Pinball machine!) because it is the most pure and the most purely hypnotic. The ball goes bing, bing, bing, and there are pretty colors, and then you realize half an hour later that you've been making a ball go bing, bing, bing for half an hour. Arkanoid, Super Breakout, that other one? Bah! Distractions from the pure trancelike entertainment that is BREAKOUT!

I've never even heard of Thunder and Lightning.

I used to hear a lot about Krypton Egg, but I never actually got around to playing it... That new Arkanoid game Tatio recently released also looks awfully nice.

Of the Breakout clones I've played, though, I did find great pleasure in DX-Ball and DX-Ball 2. Good simple fun, and the MIDI music in DX-Ball was a colorful little selection, too (even though you needed a code to turn it on). And if you want something weird, try looking for Mozpong; it's hard to top, even if it is shareware.

By the way, what happened to that 3D-remake of Breakout? I've never seen it anywhere.

I voted Arkanoid. Crackout (NES) was also a good game and so was CrystBall (Supervision)

Yet another great topic to resurrect.

    I went with Super Breakout.
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

Would've had to go with Wizard Blocks if it had ever been released, just for concept alone (real pinball + Breakout with the Pinball 2000 system), but I took Arkanoid. I really love all of these games though.
