From what I've heard, testing games is one of the worst things you can ever do, and the only reason anyone should do it is to get their foot in the door at a company. But, because its EA, I'd rather stick my foot elsewhere.

Yeah it looks like it's UK only.

I'm a little surprised at the negative reactions here...if I needed a job (and lived in the UK) I'd apply for it. The pay isn't the greatest, but it would sure beat flipping burgers or working retail until something better came along.

Ooh what a great job. NOT

Day in & day out been paid to play EA games, id rather flip burgers to be honest.

Nothing would destroy your joy of playing games than having to play through the trash that EA churn out.

Why don't we organize this so everyone who gets the job is secretly working against them. Then, every game they get, report it back as crap, until they either can't release a game without it being terrible (more terrible than normal, that is), or start making good ones.

obsviouly no this won't work but it's fun to envision

Hehe they would just sack the person & replace them if they kept saying the games were crap.

Which is exactly what would happen ever wonder why they are only offering short term contracts hehehe

Didn't mean to be a dick with my earlier post. My distaste for EA spilled over into a good thread.

Anyone who is interested and in that area should grab the bull by the horns. Who knows? Maybe we will get better gameplay in the future from having DP'ers behind the scenes!

Hey, I need a job, and God knows I'm anal enough to do this. If only it weren't in Surrey.

Game tester for EA? Worst job in the world? I think so.

Hell, I wouldn't play an EA game if I was PAID to do it (the Battlefield series being an exception, but hey, that wasn't developed by EA, just published)... EA developed titles suck.

Man, £5.50 an hour for testing games? That's like $9.55/hour over here. I'd be all over that job.

Amazingly, you are paid to do it. I'm sure that as jobs go it isn't as bad as some. Even if does turn out to be hell, it's only 3/6 months and at the end of it all you can sit back in the happy knowladge of all the bugs you didn't report.

Honestly this doesn't sound like a bad job to me. Granted im in the US and theres no way I could apply for it, but it sure sounds better than a lot of ther jobs i've had.

Been there, done that (4 years off and on), got the closet full of t-shirts. You don't want to beta test. You're paid to play buggy sections of video game code. It's one of those jobs that sounds "glamorous" from the outside looking in. I played for about 70 hours per week. I burned out. It's a wonder that I still enjoy videogames at all.

Huh... just down the road from me. Still, something to consider should HP dispense with my services and I get stir crazy at home.

(not that I would need the money at the point as I'd get a good layoff package)

If anything, you can try and make EA games just that little bit less shite then
