I know I am! The demo was totally r.a.d. and it got a 9.0 from Gamespot.
I don't want to wait until tomorrow to get started.

Yes, I am extremely excited. This game is at the top of my want list ever since I played the demo.

Yup, I can't wait to play this tomm. I haven't been this excited about an RPG in a good while already. I've been looking at pics of people who got it already and it kinda sucks that on both the outer cardboard box and the actual game DVD case it has the damn "Playable FF XII demo included!!' logo on it. I know it's there damn it! Stop tainting my DQ with FF!
There's already a thread for Dragon Quest VIII... it's here:

The game was really fun... Took me about 60 hours to complete... hope you enjoy it when you get it this week.
Sorry, I just wanted to get everyone fired up!Originally Posted by MarkMan

not a fan of the art at all, kind of blows the game for me, but I'll try it out if I get my hands on a PS2.
anyone got a quarter?

Dragon Quest 8? Is that the game which featured "over 120 hours!" of boredom?

Yeah, I liked the original stuff better, although I know the series in japan has had the DBZ art style for a long time, all it does for me is remind me of the anime, kind of annoying. I'm sure the game kicks ass though, I'm sure alot of purists will disagree with me on the art, but thats just what it does for me.Originally Posted by DonMarco

I finally played through the demo last night and... I was bored to tears. I spent a few hours running around getting into a lot of random battles. Holy crap! If the encounter rate is that high in the real game, it would take hours just to get anything done. The combat was pretty damn boring, probably because I really had no objectives and the battles were far too easy.
I then spent a little while in story mode but needless to say, I could barely keep my eyes open.
I would rather fire up Dragon Warrior than this game.
This may just be one of those love it or hate it things. My brother can't stand the artwork on this game AND Wind Waker. WW was one of the best games I have ever played but my brother would never touch it due to the graphic design.
I can see the appeal of realistic looking games but, in my opinion, sometimes off-beat or cartoonish art style lends a certain charm and magic to a game. I don't need everything to be serious.
I remember being a kid and reading the orignal manual for The Legend of Zelda. Inside is this wonderful manga style art and I remember wishing that I could play a game with graphics like that. ...and then came Wind Waker...
The random battles is just as frequent as old Dragon Warrior titles... it probably seems like it takes longer because of the load times...
The game was great. I beat it at around 60 hours... but I'm still playing it to unlock everything and I'm sure it'll take me aroudn 100 hrs.
I got it and it's fan-friggin'-tastic!
I like the box for it myself, still gotta buy it though.
