    Default winter wonderland...

It's that time of year again to throw the logs on the fire and settle down to a long dark winter season of gaming.

However, are you like me and hate to play games out of season??

Do you find it kind of spoils the atmosphere of the game to attempt super mario sunshine in November? or California games in December?

On the flip side - don't it just send a nice shiver down your spine to fire up james pond, 1080 snowboarding or winter olympics while the wind blows outside!

so - Let me know if you'r a 'seasonal' gamer and, if so, throw some good wintery game suggestions my way (preferably 8bit or 16bit era).

must go now - my hot chocolate awaits

I'm definitely a seasonal gamer. Check out my last couple of MAMExpose articles and you'll agree:

This past summer I made it a point to spend most of my gaming time w/ Splashdown, Summer Heat Beach Volleyball (finished/beat the Easy tournament), & Tiger Woods PGA Tour '03.

This winter I plan to focus on Val D'Isere S&S (Jaguar), Extermination (PS2, takes place in Antarctica), & the PS version of Sled Storm. I guess the PS2 version ain't that great.

I might try to play thru an entire season of NHL 96 (Genesis) or NHL 2K (Dreamcast).

I fired up Dead or Alive Volleyball yesterday, and the wet, rainy weather outside just made it seem inappropriate. I thought it was strange, but I guess others are seasonal gamers, too!

We have a tradition in our house. All winter levels of Diddy Kong Racing must be played on Christmas Day.

    Nuff Said.

I try not to play winter related game in the winter. Nothing like a random ice/snow level in some platformer to depress the hell out of you.

-No football games during baseball season
-No baseball games during football season
-No hockey games in the summer
    -No basketball games, period
-California Games may only be played within the state lines
-Winter games may be played in the summer, but only at night.
-Summer games may be played in the winter, but only in the day time during unseasonably warm weather and partly cloudy or better sky conditions
-Christmas NiGHTs (SS) may not be played during Christmas as it is too cliche
-No game with predominantly white cover are may be played after labor day

Winter time seems to be N64 time.......and Ocarina Of Time in particular. I guess I reach for the N64 during our cold Canadian winters because it's nice to be able to settle in and savor those amazing Rare games. Diddy Kong, DK64, Jet Force, Kazooie, Tooie, Conker etal. It's always great to see how fast you can clear Mario 64 with 100% or play Paper Mario.

Other than that, winter used to be RPG time.....back when they actually MADE epic turn-based RPGs . My DS shall be used to play all of those "old school" GBA RPGs.

And yeah, I'd fire up DOA Beach Volleyball during a snowstorm, no probs.

Sonic Adventure, Grandia II, and Shenmue are the best games for me to play around the snowy months.

I love my Dreamcast. Imo, it's the best console out there. Shame it didn't live long enough. Dammit. Just imagine the games it could of gotten if it lived long enough.

The best winter game is The Grinch for this system.... My girlfriend and I play it around now and don't touch it for the rest of the year!

    I love winter, so much.

I'll go out for a few hours on the slopes and get some nice skiing in. Then, I'll get home and sit in the room of doom and decide what games to play.

It's gonna be a nostaglic Christmas this year for me. Gonna be playing plenty o' Dreamcast, Genesis, and Saturn.

Well, and the DS because Sonic Rush came out, which is bloody amazing. BUY IT.
