I think modern gaming has its ups and downs, every generation does. I grow a bit tired oat times of people saying "Man, games were sooooo much better on system X "back in the day"..."

I dont get it, don't people realize that the games they remember are just the good games from such systems? Sure, a lot of crap gets out there now, but lets look at about every game system to be released. Yep, i see lots of crap for those too!

Modern gaming has just as many great titles as any other generation of consoles, there will always be a super mario bros/gunstar heroes/katamari damacy. Always.

then again there will always be a Menace beach/Captain Novalin/BMX XXX....

That being said I like modern gaming because I like video games, plain and simple.

I kind of like it... Even tho I own a PS2 and GC, I havent played either of them more than 24 hours total in the past 12 months... however on the other hand, I play the hell out of my NES (but I do play my GBA a bit as well ), so I kind of like the forum split. Now I dont have to pick through Xbox and PS2 threads to find the ol schoolie ones that interest me

I can appreciate a 32 Ford just as easily as I can appreciate an 06 Viper.

I love modern gaming for the new ways that companies are inventing as to the way we play games.....touch screens, voice, etc. I love modern eye candy. I remember when we used to think that the N64 games looked totally realistic!!

I love classic gaming for the simple, uncomplicated gaming that it offers. I love classic gaming for it's eye candy. Bright basic colors ala Sonic etc. I respect classic gaming and my peers here on DP for the incredible amount of skill and coordination that it takes to play classic games. Classic games will kick your ass eight ways til Sunday. You get used to the humiliation of dying.

Am I the only one that thinks modern games are far too easy compared to games, say, ten years ago and before??? There are plenty of games that can be completed in a day now, yet back in the day, there were plenty of games that were so hard that you died within seconds of playing!

You give a kid (15 or above I mean) a modern game, like Halo or Resident Evil, and chances are they'll complete it in the first day. Give them Super Mario World, and I guarantee they have to actually work at it...

I know exactly what you're talking about.

I play some of the games I used to play when I was younger and I don't know how I ever beat any of them. The games from back then just seem overall more difficult than today's games. I guess I just don't have good skills anymore.
