Default My first 'ebay find' thread

OK, I don't normally participate in posting my buys, etc. but this time I couldn't resist Been wanting a sealed copy of this for ages but could never find one I trusted that was in decent condition for less than a mint. Finally got one and it's already been shipped Unfortunately the seller has no other titles left :/ Gotta love badly listed auctions though

Great Find! Your lucky! with only 41 views there wasn't much competition! Although, it still looks like a couple of collectors found it as well

Holy fuck.. Secret of Mana sealed for $204 + another game. I saw Dr. Brinn payed like $700 for a sealed Secret of Mana.
I guess the wrong topic made it go for that low price.

Secret of Mana is easily one of the best games ever. If you want to re-experience the game, but somewhat improved, get a copier, flash cart, or ROM burner and play the variable width font version of Secret of Mana. The original SoM uses a fixed-width font, which limits the space for text, and it also uses a highly cut translation. The variable width font edition includes improved fonts and an improved un-cut translation! Check out the screenshots here:
    http://fusoya.panicus.org/som/shots.html

Other than the improved, extended, un-cut dialog and text, it is the same plot, gameplay, etc. I recommend keeping two carts: the original and the VWF version. Even for a purist like me, the VWF version is two steps forward and no steps backwards, but as a purist I will never give up the original. BTW, give SoM's wikipedia page a gander:

Oh, and the author of the VWF SoM patch also created a patch for the much-hated, but actually quite fun Secret of Evermore. This patch makes SoE multiplayer COOP somewhat like SoM:

Well I knew at least some people would find it... there were enough searchwords there for it to be seen be careful eyes.

    But I'm not complaining

Yeah, I feel bad for brinn on that one because he ended up with two copies and is now trying to sell one that has a bit of wear, and it isn't meeting reserve.

Someone else appears to have bought a mint copy for $625 recently.

Bottom line that copy would sell for 500 minimum in a well advertised auction.

    You're telling ME, confusing heading.

I STILL have no clue what that second game is and if it's a NES or SNES game. x_x

    Great snag, in any event.

I don't think there is another game. If you look at the other auctions he sold you'll see that there was an auction for bard's tale and castlevania 3 / dracula's curse.

So he must have clicked 'sell similar' and forgotten to change the title.

He also didn't change the first sentence of the main description, the '2 NES game' part, and then wrote in new details about SoM.

...but whatever. Thanks I used to just pay whatever for stuff I wanted but I'm finding hunting for stuff on the cheap much more rewarding

Ah, lazy eBay seller. Don't tell me what it cost him in value lost until you get the game and both of you have left feedback.

How did you find it anyway?

Man I bought that game brand new when it came out and sold it a couple years later for $20. That's one I should of held onto.

I am glad you picked it up for a bargain.

I've re-read that auction description like three times now and I'm still not sure what you'll evnetually get in the mail.

Let us know what you actually get when you get it.

As I suspected, it's a single mana, factory sealed and in nice condition (arrived today). Also got hillsfar, dragonstrike, and ultima exodus all sealed for about 30 each.
