    Default Recommended Accessable PS2 Rpgs?

    Howdy,

I'm looking for some fun, accessable RPGs on the PS2 or CUBE for my girlfriend.

She likes Rpgs like Final Fantasy X, X-2 and she really enjoyed the Dragon Quest VIII demo. Pretty sure she thought Suikoden IV was okay.

She tried to get into Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and Persona 2, but they got too hard for her and she got frustrated. La Pucelle Tactics bored her. Most PSOne stuff seems dated to her.

Any recommendations? I'm thinking Dragon Quest VIII is a no brainer and that she'd probably like one of the Harvest Moon games...

    Thanks!
    Ben

My wife LOVES the Shadow Hearts series. I enjoy watching her play those. Try 'em out, should be easy enough to find nowadays. 3rd in the series (4th if you include PSone's Koudelka) was recently released (in Japan IIRC).

Yup. Have to recommend Shadow Hearts. Great series.

If she wouldn't mind an action-RPG, "Ys: Arc of Napishtim" couldn't be simpler. No way it'll be over her head, and it's very fun.

Final Fantasy 9 is great for humor & cute characters & features controls similar to FF10 so easy to learn.

    Grandia 2 is funny too.
    Ditto Skies of Arcadia.

I LOVED FF9, but she got bored with it. Go fig. She did finish FF7 though...

Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 are both great games. Both games offer innovative art styles and graphics, fun gameplay (it can be compared to the N64 Zelda games) and an intresting story. You could even build villages and towns from recieved pieces in dungeons, I like them alot maybe you girl friend will.

Perhaps Radiata Stories (my review) - it's pretty easy to pick up and learn, lots of stuff to do, two separate storylines (diverges in the middle of the game).

If she wasn't turned off to the SRPGs, I'd recommend trying Disgaea over La Pucelle.

Dark Cloud 2 is pretty easy to pickup.

Here's another vote for Skies of Arcadia (glances at avatar). I'll admit I haven't played it on the cube, but I hear it's pretty much the same as the Dreamcast masterpiece. Plus, I see it everywhere for $10.

Weird. Thought for sure she'd like - loveable Vivi - and the romance angle between Zidane and the Princess.

Since you also asked about Gamecube RPGs, I'd recommend Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. It's a fun, accessible RPG (recommended it to some relatives of mine, and they're hooked!). Also, go with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and if you can get the Zelda Collector's Edition, have her play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask as well.

Seconding the recommendations of Skies of Arcadia and Kingdom Hearts.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We're going with Dragon Quest VIII for now, but I'm thinking Radiata Stories and Dark Cloud 2 might be the best ones for her to try later. Skies of Arcadia might work too, but she's very picky, as she is not much of a gamer.

    Default Dude!!!

Ummm...can't say Dragon Quest is a bad choice...Skies of Arcadia ain't bad either...but dude Kingdom Herts is the game you want, Disney aside this is a great game...and there's a sequel coming out soon...Dark Cloud was very silly, can't speak to it's sequel though...

    PS2
    Shadow Hearts
    Shadow Hearts Covenant
    Kingdom Hearts
    Disgaea
    Grandia 2

    GC
    Tales of Symphonia
    Baten Kaitos
    Skies Of Arcadia

The best RPGs of this gen by far IMO. Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter is another fun one but would be way to hard for this person. Very difficult for a RPG.
