Default Nintendo DS - Router incompatibility?

Wierd. I checkd the Nintendo DS wireless page a few weeks ago. It listed my D-Link 514 router as incompatible. Now that I have Mario Cart - I'm testing it and sure enough it is incompatible. It's a standard 802.11b router - and I did try it with all of the security settings off, broadcast SSID on etc.

Does anyone know what non standard/strange feature the DS uses that makes it incompatible with some 802.11b routers?

Looks like you'll have to buy a USB Wifi adaptor. I'm not exactly sure what NOA did with the DS. They said its 802.11b/g with some proprietary crap thrown in. That proprietary crap is probably whats blocking you. Or it could just be D-Link sucks. Cisco is king.

I've had a lot of problems with D-Link wireless in the past (had one just blow up on me one day). I've been using a Linksys/Cisco b/g wireless ever since...althought I havn't tested Mario Kart DS yet (just got it this morning!) .
