    Default Simpsons Arcade DOS Game

I just downloaded this as shareware, and wasn't aware that it was ever released outside of the arcades. I believe you will need Dosbox to get it working properly.

Er, "shareware" ? Are you sure you know what that means?

As I recall, the PC port is rather limited compared to the arcade; there aren't any combo moves.

    Wasn't there a TG16 port, too?

Whoops, sorry! It was abandonware on a filesharing program.

There is a DOS version, which sucks (even NES games of that same era featured better beat-em up action, like Double Dragon). Never tried the C64 version, but it looks substantially better than the DOS port.

So am I wrong about the TG-16 (or PC Engine) port?

I consider myself pretty aware of TG games and I had NEVER heard of this. I checked gamefaqs and couldn't find any info about a TG version of it. It isn't in any of the info on turbolist or anywhere else either.

Why on earth didn't this game come to SNES, dammit!!!

Mame is the way to go, can't wait to play it on my new mame cab 4 player!!!

I remember the DOS port being pretty decent, I could never get any father than the graveyard tho. I'm glad to see that someone else finds it weird that there wasnt a SNES port, even a Genesis port would have been nice.

Man, I haven't seen 1 of those old things in the arcades for more than a good decade [I believe it was 1993 or 1994 when I saw it]. Still remember it though and haven't seen a single machine since.

And no, I never even know DOS had 1.

I'm interested in knowing what you meant by "considering the hardware". The C64 was the best game playing computer of its time.

Oh god, don't even mention the PC version of Double Dragon. I remember playing that back in the day, and it was god awful!

I concur that the port wasn't bad at all. Very close to the arcade. I downloaded this from a pirate bbs and played it to death at least 11 or so years ago during my more dubious.
    days.

For all the people asking why there was no SNES port. The answer is Licensing. Konami made the Arcade game and Acclaim owned the console rights. I guess the two couldn't work it out.

Glancing at that list, I don't see a single exclusive.

The C64 - for a number of years after it came out - sure beat DOS machines, but by the time a lot of those came out the Amiga and Atari ST had it beat, no problems. Still an awesome machine, though.
