Default Should I play Mario Sunshine?

I have played every Mario since their first day of release. Mario Sunshine is the only Mario that I did'nt buy on it's release date, I never really had a interest and never actually heard anything good about the game. I'm wondering if it's a bad mistake not playing this game? Especially since Revolution is comming soon and Mario 128 look's pretty cool so far. Should I even bother wasting my time to play this game?

I think it's a mistake not to play ANY game based on what other people say. It's a fun game, and it's the sole reason I bought a Cube back when it came out.
It's a videogame man, play it!

One of my friends at work keeps telling me it's the best game that he bought for his GameCube. I have it, but I haven't yet had time to get into it.

I should load the lot of you into a rocket and fire it into the sun....

You own Sunshine but haven't ever played it? YIKES!

Sunshine is a FANTASTIC game. Some say that it "isn't Mario", because the waterpak changes the game mechanics so wildly, and to that I say "eat me".

I don't care whether it's "Mario" or not, whatever it is, it's fucking brilliant. It is a *fantastic* game. Do I like it as much as Mario 64? No. But then again, I don't like anything as much as Mario 64, so that's not really fair.

I'd still rather play it than all but perhaps 5 or 6 other games in existence. I've put dozens of hours into it after getting every shine, just fooling around. That should tell you something.

    Play it.

What the heck are you basing this on? Did Nintendo invite you to take an exclusive look at Mario 128? Because, from what I know, nothing is known about this game.

And, to answer your question, Sunshine is absolutely worth playing. I wasn't a massive fan, but its certainly not without its charm.

why not just try it - rent it or borow it or buy it - im sure it can be found for 7.50 somewhere - not a big risk for a game you possibly may not like

    Play it.

Play it play it play it. It lives up to the Nintendo quality-standard and then some.

If you liked Mario 64, think of it like Mario 64 with better graphics, sound, and a much better camera.

Its different, but still fun. There are stars that you have to get in every level that require you to play a more 'Mario' type game. Those are the best.

Actually, "stars" were in Mario 64. In Sunshine, they're called "shines" and looked like little suns, but yeah, same thing.

Holy shit don't I know it. I currently have a backlog of something like 50 games that I really want to get around to playing but haven't yet. Sunshine is closer to the top, but I need to complete some other stuff first.

This is actually one of my favorite Mario titles. Its a great game. The level design for nearly every level is awesome. The level design is what makes the game fun for me. I highly recommend it. Though, don't do what most people do: judge it as a new Mario sequel. Instead, think of it as a new type of Mario game.

I played it, and got bored. Didn't feel like Super mario. I'll give it another try later...

I liked it alot. I got my Gamecube back in 2002 with Mario: Sunshine. It isn't Mario 64 but it is a enjoyable game.

Super Mario Sunshine is an excellent, A+ title. I've never understood why the game has this idiotic stigma attached to it. If you liked Mario 64, you'll like Sunshine.

I found the game unforgivably hard... I've been able to complete so little of it.

I've had fun, though, with what I did do.

Mario Sunshine is my favorite 3d platformer. First of all, the game is just beautiful.

The main island is a ton of fun just to explore, especially with the nozzles you get further on in the game. The waterpack, hardly the deterrent from game play its made out to be, is a fun way to make exploration even more deep, because it lets you hover, jump higher, etc.

Be warned though, this game is much, much harder than Mario 64. In particular, the platforming sections where you don't have your jetpack are a challenge. Be prepared to go Old School, because you're going to be trying some of them again and again and again. But, nothing can match the feeling of accomplishment when you complete one.

My only complaint about Mario Sunshine is that they made the game more linear than Mario 64. You have to get the shines in the set order within a stage. For example, you can't get the 8 red coins shine right at the start, like you could in Mario 64. Other than that, it is a great and challenging game, and one of the best reasons to own a Gamecube.

could've made a poll out of this...

but I do recommend this game, it's pretty damn good, I enjoyed all the uses of the F.L.U.D.D. I never understood by people always complained about it.
