    Default Hard drives

I was planning on modding my Xbox. I have two spare 200GB hard drives. I wanted to put the better one in my PC and the other one in my Xbox. I was just wondering what one people thought were better. The two drives are Maxtor "DiamondMax" and Seagate "Barracuda". They are both 200GB as mentioned, and both 8MB cache.

    Thanks.

Seagate is WAY better... if the data is important, put it on the Seagate... Maxtor is good enough for games though.

Put whichever one has had less use in what you feel will be holding more delicate information. I've never like maxtor so I would probably put that one in my computer as a spare drive.

I've never had problems with Seagates... lots of our servers have Barracudas in them and they've been really solid (of course those are SCSI)... on the other hand, we fired up a brand new server, set up the RAID, started to load Server 2003, got a RAID failure in the middle of the install, ended up one of the drives died... a Maxtor. I've had various other problems with Maxtor in the past, but never any problems with Seagates. Seagate also has a better warranty compared to Maxtor (5 years compared to 1 or 3 years, not that you'll probably have the HD that long anyway :P ).

Western Digital is my favorite choice for hard drives. They've been great in replacing drives that have failed within the warranty period, although I have seldom had trouble with them.
