I picked up my copy and have been playing it for a few hours. I was able to connect with Wi-Fi very easy. Just be sure to follow the directions--especially if you have WEP encryption on your wireless router. Now getting you DS to link up to your Nintendo online account was a real pain in the butt. Because you cannot try to "Go Out" in Animal Crossings untill you finish with Tom Nook, hence you cannot connect to the Nintendo WFC to finish the linking of you Nintendo account with your Nintendo DS. After I did all of that my account linked up with no problem.

At first I was put off by the rolling earth view, but it has now grown on me and I really like seeing more of the town, plus you can see where the other creatures are better. I like the fact that you can see the sky.

There seems to be a lot of fun little editions in this version --- This is not a spoiler but what the heck is the secret cat? Haha can't wait to find out. It does look like everything you did in AC gamecube you will have to do in AC DS.

Maybe I need to calibrate my touch screen but it seems like I get stuck shaking the trees when I meant to pick up the fruit. Yes I got the big old swollen eye already!

The music and the sounds are really wonderful. You can set the sound to either surround or stereo and wow I really like the way my DS sounded.

All in all a very fun game.

Opps I think I remember who/what the secret cat is.

I concur. Do you have a source for this claim?

I believe when you go into the gates that lead out of town there is some Christmas-like music playing. Stop and listen.

Yeah, it's pretty sad because the know they suck at shipping games correctly. Every damn box arrives with a "Late Shipment, please get this the fuck on the floor so people will find it" sticker.

I'll be on in a minute. I've got oranges and would love to trade.

EDIT: Hmm... should've looked at the time of your post. PM me or something and we can schedule a time to meet

At any rate, my gate is open right now so feel free to come in. It'll be open until around 10:30 EST.

I got the game today, and really can't give a review yet. I just started playing. I am heated about those holidays being missing (if true) cause that is one of the best parts of the game. Another thing is I know you can move out. So can I move into one of my friends towns? If so, bad ass.

I doubt that the holidays are missing because from everything i've seen and read

it sounds like it's just on wifi with someone than there's not really any special events but in normal days there are the special events

Are we going to keep each game seperately?

As I mentioned in a thread seemingly no one noticed yesterday, since the friends codes are different each time (stupid, should've been tied to MAC addy or something), I could keep them all in one thread if we wanted. If not, I would be happy to give up that duty for future releases.

I don't really care one way or another. On one hand, I'd like to keep them all in the same place. On the other, I don't think I'll be playing too much more than Mario Kart online often.

Realizing how many codes were already posted in my thread, I just updated it. If you guys would like to use that one, I'd be happy to continue to update it

Please, please, please use the formatting that I have suggested if you do to save me quite a bit of time. It is:

    Animal Crossing
    goatdan (Town: MyTown) - 9999 9999 9999

That thread can be found here.

Also, it is true that Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving are not celebrated in this Animal Crossing. I got the guide book with the game today and it has a calendar of events for 2006, all of these holidays are just normal days. However, there is a New Years Eve and many others that I won't spoil.

Does anyone want to be the official something of Animal Crossing? I was thinking we could have jobs like:

    1) The Official Weed Killer (this person would pull out weeds for money)
    2) The Flee Market Person (this person would use his ds to set up a flee market)
    3) The Farmer (this person would have all trees with all fruits in his town)

    Any ideas?

No Christmas trees? What about snow? I just can't believe a game like this doesn't have this!! I'm gutted.

I haven't gotten online with the DS yet...I've heard there can be problems...then again, I don't have Animal Crossing for the DS yet either. I'll go look for it today...I need to go pick up a Turbo Scratcher for an online friend in Australia...she tells me they have pretty poor cat toys to select from down under. :/

There is snow and you can still build a snowman. I believe that Nook will still be selling festive trees but as for Christmas day itself, the calendar does not show it as anything special. Same with Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I concur. Do you have a source for this claim?
http://www.dsmeet.com/t/93/ They don't have a link either, so it may not be true.
Nintendo Power had a few pages long article on the game and one of the things they did mention is that the official holidays have been replaced with made-up festivals that center around "creative activities". Such as a day where you talk to all the animals and give them phrases to repeat. Or a flea market day where you travel from house to house shopping.

Now that's no to say that they've left out holiday themed furniture, or even entire seasons. But I haven't heard one way or another about it.
