    Default Dead Genny cart

I have a dead Genesis "Fire Shark" cart. I have tried cleaning it with about 10 baby cotton swabs with alcohol and it still won't work. > The contacts look perfectly clean (from the little bit I can see without opening it up). Any other ideas to revive it?

I use an ink eraser shaped like a pencil to clean anything off the contacts the alcohol doesn't get and then I use a Electronic Cleaner type stuff that leaves no residue. If this doesn't work...then....its dead. Speaking of dead...I had 2 genny carts that I did the above mentioned to and they didn't respond at all.
I've had more genny carts dead than any other system...go figure!! :/

I had a dead Genny Forgotten Worlds cart that no amount of cleaning would make work. It would get to the screen after you started a game where it shows the two heroes saying "Let's get 'em" , then it would crash. It must be defective ROM chips or something. There's no moving parts and the contacts aren't dirty and there's no broken solder joints.

I've done quite a bit of Genesis collecting, and I've found that these carts mysteriously "die" a lot more than games for other systems. I must have 7 or 8 dead carts that no amount of cleaning will fix. Among them, copies of Road Rash 3 and Gain Ground, so ya, this really pisses me off.

@Zaxxon: Are you using a 6-button? If I remember right, Forgotten Worlds will only work with a 3-button. I forget exactly what would happen, but it just wouldn't work for me unless I used a 3-button.

Genny carts and static electricity=death.. take a genny cart, rub it on the carpet on a cold, dry day and it will be dead when you stick it in the genny..

I don't remember exactly. It was probably a 6 button as I recall needing a 6 button to play some other games so that's probably what I used. It was an ex-rental so it had seen a lot of abuse.

I had this happen with a Thunderforce III cart once...then again I think I was trying to do an infinite lives trick by pulling it in and out of the system real fast...worked for some games. Hey, it was a rental anyway!
