I've never had any complaints about our component cables. As long as you remember to set your PS2 setting to component cables first That's the only problem anyone's had. I personally sold my monster cables when we started carrying those, and haven't ever noticed any difference.

It's in the system configuration. I had this problem also with one of my ps2 consoles. One was set to RGB and the other to component. Confused me for a few minutes until I hooked it back up through composite and made the switch

I've got the officially lisenced one from Sony, but not for HD, just RGB. Seems to be fine to me, and I opted for the slightly more expensive as opposed to the rediculously expensive.

A friend of mine got a pair of these cyclone cables and to tell you the truth I don't think they do anything extra. Go with the standard sony brand cable.

Plus you wont look like a complete tool with this gigantic industral sized cord coming out the back of your little pstwo.

I feel like enlightening the DP community on cables a sweet little video that compares Monster Cables to regular cables, and then for hardcorees how to make your own cables.

    http://revision3.com/systm/avcabling/media

    Basically Cables go like this:
Don't buy 50 buck cables, Don't buy 5 buck cables.
    50 Buck Cables have:
Excess covering and sleeving to make it look good.
Gold Connectors, which don't do anything

    5 Buck Cables have:
Cheap sleaving that tears apart easily.
    Poor Quality

I'd spend around 20-30 per cable, always go 1st party if possible.

    My advice:

Buy the official component PS2 cables from Sony. They're only $19.99 and they work great.

You might be disappointed if you're expecting a huge jump in image quality with the PS2/GC/Xbox generation. I think you'll find the least common denominator is usually the game...not the cables (see: SOTC running in progressive scan...yuck!).

I have the offical cables and I have no complants. I've seen systems with Monster cables, etc and I see no difference in image quality what so ever.
