FS: RARE Dreamcast developmental System Disc 2... SOLD

Here's the scoop. I'm selling off the System Disc 2 that I got (pics will be at bottom of post). SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. Paypal only, US Buyers preferred, etc.

Now, the System Disc 2 is in fairly decent shape overall. The case door has some tape residue on it, someone taped something to the front of it. I took it off, but I'll throw in the little paper they taped on it that says 'Key Disk'. The back has a slight crack or two in it, but nothing bad. The disc has some minor markings, but that looks fine overall too.

I want $175 shipped for it. *SOLD*

It's apparently some kind of developmental boot disc, that was used by developers to boot their beta and unfinished GD-Rs. I'm not 100% on that, but I think that's close. They're pretty damn hard to come by.

I've had at least 5 different people tell me that they go for around $200. If you don't like the price, fine, but don't bitch about it in my thread.

You might try eBay on this one Jed. I tried selling my NR Reader for $175-200 on three different forums including this one, and no one even made an offer. I pulled in $203 on Ebay which I was pretty happy with.

Make your title something like "Sega Dreamcast Developer System Disc 2" or whatever. Post it here, Assembler, DCH, AA for some hits. Make sure you ship to Europe, as I've sold more dev stuff there than anywhere else. You could put a reserve on it if you want, but that tends to discourage people from bidding. If you're patient, you'll eventually run into someone who will take it for around what you're asking. Good luck!

Obviously all three of you have forgotton about the FAQ posted at the top of the Buy/Sell forum. I suggest you re-read it, in fact here is a little sample for you:

Please do not march into a thread and state that you can get an item for $X on eBay or some other online store. If you think their price may be too high, don't be rude about it. If others feel the same way, then it won't sell. This is a hobby where each person gives an item a different monetary worth. While it's fine to look out for others, people should also do research into the item they are buying.

Similarly, if you want an item that someone else is also asking for, it is better etiquette that you create your own topic with your contact information, trade list, or the price you're willing to pay.

I have it on DCH too.. I don't like putting valuable/rare stuff on eBay, I'd rather it go to a DPer. Sure, I might even get more than I'm asking on eBay, but like I said, I like things like this to go to DP people. I'll hold out as long as I can before I eBay it, but thanks for the advice.

My apoligies for overstepping the rules. I'll try to make amends by describing the details of the disc.

The system disc 2 is an official Sega disc given to developers to boot burned GD-R discs. Sega decided not to make special development consoles due to the added cost of manufacturing. Instead they created this disc to boot up games that were in development. The disc will work on any Dreamcast of the correct region, there is a different disc for each of the 3 reigons. The disc cannot be used to boot code from another reigon (ie, you can't use it to boot a pal disc on an NTSC Dreamcast). You can use this disc to boot up copies of retail Dreamcast games that were put on to CD-R. The number on the disc, S-2082, can be used to trace back the disc to the person and company that it was originally given to by Sega. Each disc has an individual serial number, and was put there to track who was leaking the disc.

There were several thousand discs produced for each reigon, i'm not sure if the serial numbers are in numerical order however. This disc was only given to liscensed developers. It is technically a criminal act to sell this disc without express written aproval of Sega, as it was liscensed, not sold. It may be against the law to own this disc, depending on your local jurisdiction.
