Nintendo DS internal battery; a prediction.

I have a feeling that if we don't start stocking up on DS rechargable batteries, that in a decade or so they will be incredibly hard to find. The ones we have will be totally dead, and we won't be able to play our DS on the go (only using the ac adapter)

What do you think is going to happen?

And you do realize batterys have a shelf life? You can't just buy them and store them away and expect them to be like new 10 years down the road.

Yeah - a rechargable battery sitting on a shelf is just as bad as one being used. You will still be able to get them, if not from Nintendo then from some aftermarket place like Batteries Plus.

I know they have a shelf life. I dont have an SP I assumed they took double A's like my advanced does. But what is gonna happen in 10 years when all the batteries are dead?

The same thing that happened 20 years down the road when Battery backed Nintendo games ran out of juice. You bough replacement batteries.

If we hit a point 10 years from now where the DS battery just ceases to function, then a market will be created and some one will meet the needs of that market.

Cracking open the plastic shell and replacing the cells inside is also an option for the more industrious person.

Not really something to worry about for a few more years.

Incidentally, I recall the manual states it can handle around 500 recharges.

True, but i still don't want to have it plugged in. I like to be able to care my handhelds around the house.
