Default Does anything happen in VA?

I was just wondering, are there any gaming events that happen in or near Virginia that I am missing out on?

I always thought magfest was just a LAN party. (I have not really PC gamed in several years)

You are thinking of FusionGC which is held in Roanoke, VA (I may be mistaken) every summer.

Anyway, I urge you to attend MAGfest. Seriously, there was a lot of gaming going on. They had old Nes, SNES, SMS, Neo Geo plus a lot import and bemani stuff. I would say the focus was on 2D and 3D fighters and FPS. There wasn't a lot (if any) sports gaming going on which is understandable since it is more of a "hardcore gathering".

My personal highlight was the 4 player TMNT arcade game they had set up. It was the first time I beat TMNT on an arcade machine w/ three other people since 1992!

I'd also encourange you to make the drive up to PA for the East Coast Gaming Expo in the fall. Not sure when they are having it this year, but it is a great event.

One more thing. Cheick out Otakon in Baltimore this August.

Although it is an anime convention, it also hosts one of the largest video gaming gatherings on the east coast. They always have tons of arcade games + old school, import and niche gaming genres are represented well in addition to the standard tourneyment fare.

I have been to Katsucon in the DC area and they did have a game room that was cool, but that was about it as far as gaming. I was suspecting that anime conventions might be a good way to go if I found the right one.
