Default Twisted Metal Black Online: offline?

A co-worker finally brought in what she'd promised me weeks ago (man, I hate waiting for this stuff!)- she agreed to give me some PS/2 games she doesnt use anymore. So far I got Tomb Raider (I was going to buy this at TRU once the $10 price came down!) & Twisted Metal Black Online.

It wont let me play it w/out an online connection. I have a slim PS2 w/ built-in network adapter, but Im not really interested in actually going online, so is there any way to play this offline? Can I take just a few steps setting up w/out "going all the way"? Is there some point I can reach to play w/out being connected?

Its just the online component to Twisted Metal:Black. The game itself has been a GH game forever and you should be able to pick up a used copy for well less than 10 bucks. Black is the best TM game since 2, so if your a fan of the series i'd plunk down a few more bucks for the game.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

I highly agree, Twisted Metal 2 and Twisted Metal Black were the best ones, while the ones that 989 Studios made....YUCK

Ya, 2 and Black are awesome. I played both. The PSP one is ok, mediocre.

Wow people still play black online? Can anyone else confirm that people are still playing it TODAY? If so I would be VERY suprised.
