What is the BEST time & day for an ebay auction to end for the best price? Anyone? 3, 5, or 7 days? I'd like to start selling extra games if I can't get rid of them here or on Gametz.
Thanks!
EDIT. Sorry... did a search! Many thanks. :/

Thanks for indulging my gaming habit when I was young, Dad. You were the best. I miss you. ~David Barnes 1926-2007~
Sunday evening. 7 days.
Yeah, Sunday is probably the best day to end it... around 5-8 pm, I'd say. But you have to take in to account other time zones... So don't end it too late or too early, because of the hour differences.

Too much competition as 90% of ebay ends that day.Originally Posted by anagrama
I like Mondays after 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific. That way you capture weekend surfers, at-work surfers, and evening/primetime surfers. All on the same auction & bidding against one another. In fact-- the Monday after Thanksgiving is the biggest day for online shopping! (People shop from work.) Ch-ching!
Also like 10-day auctions to catch watchers over two weekends.

I do midday Sunday, like 12-2 PM CST. Whether the auction is a three day auction, five day, or seven day, it depends on the item; if it is something super rare and that doesn't pop up on eBay hardly ever, you definitely want to go with seven, if not ten. If it's something that there're 20 copies of at any given time, it doesn't matter if you only put it up for three days (although I don't recommend one day auctions). Anything in between (say, something that there is one or two copies of on eBay at any given time) you can go any way you want, although I usually do five days on that.

For me, it's Saturday and Wednesday evenings.
Though now that I think about it, I sell more on Wednesdays...
I prefer Sunday-Thursday evenings. I'll run a 7 day auction if it's a pricier item, but otherwise I'll use a 5 day auction.
You should also consider what you're selling and who your target audience is. Keep in mind that for almost 20 weeks of the year there's a Football game on every Sunday aftermoon and evening. Most football fans most likely won't be online during the game. Same thing goes with racing fans when big races are on.Originally Posted by Veepa
Everyone is probally going to have different opinions. If your item is something someone wants its going to get bids no matter what time or day it ends. ive listed stuff that ended at 3am on a thursday and got bids. I think as a buyer I like auctions with a BIN because if its something I need I will BIN it even if the price is a little higher than the starting bid.because I usally forget about items im watching when its a long 7 or 10 day auction. A lot of people will disagree but I usally try to have my auctions end on saturday or sunday at least ive had the most luck on those days.
Anyway good luck on selling your items
I usually use 7pm on a Thursday
I'd really avoid a 10 day auction. Those put people off (too long a wait) and really can stifle bidding activity.
Otherwise, it's really up to personal preference/convenience (i.e. when you can go to the post office).
Whenever I put up auctions I always try to end them around 9 EST on Sunday. And I usually do a 5 day auction just because I don't want to have to wait a week, 5 days is long enough.
Good point-- unless it's something rare like Suikoden 2. They are willing to wait 'specially with a low starting price of $0.99. They'll stay for the bargain.Originally Posted by unwinddesign
Really really recommend avoiding Sundays-- you're competing against 100 other people all selling the same game for 1 penny. Your game will barely rise above that.
You want to end your items at a time best for everyone. When you think about it there are only 3 or 4 groups of people that are going to buy your games. Mothers buying stuff for there kids, college kids, collectors, and avg gamers. So what time is best for all of them?
Well in my findings its been (for this time of the year)
Don't end Thur night: all the college kids are out drinking or doing something. Sure they don't bid much but they bring up the bids. Also CSI and the OC is on, two very big shows which im sure some of the avg gamers watch or even collectors. (I watch CSI) I think 24 might be on too.
Don't end in the morning: Obvious dumb idea. You want to end after work hours from NY to Cali. So if your on the east id say 9:30 if your on the west id say 6:30. This way everyone gets a nice shot at it.
Don't end Tuesdays nights: Now with American Idol starting your going to loose out on them mothers and avg gamers and some college kids. Mothers always get what they want if its some common game for there kid, so they bring the auctions up. If you do it Tues, end after American Idol and House.
Don't end Friday or Sat night: Obvious dumb idea, unless you want to see your auction NOT go up in the last 20 mins.
So there you have Mon, Wed, Sun night. In my opinion the best time to do it. You want to avoid major tvs shows and work.
Good luck
