    Default Paper Mario 2?

(First off, I tried to search, but picking either choice of ways to search brought up too many useless posts -- there should be an option to search for EXACT PHRASE, as that's exactly what I needed; so, if there's already a post on this, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find it).

Anyway, I've seen references to "Paper Mario 2" for Gamecube, a sequel to "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door". However, there's no mention of it on Nintendo's gamelist, and searches on Google for "Paper Mario 2" reveal that a lot of sites consider "PM: TTYD" to be "PM2", i.e. a sequel to the N64 game, "Paper Mario".

Does anyone know when GC PM2 is supposed to be released?

I've also heard that there are demos out there from CES or something... Are these marked as demos?

Yes, Thousand-Year Door is "Paper Mario 2." Since it's the second game to sport the title "Paper Mario," some people just call it Paper Mario 2 for short.

Does it really need to have the number "2" to be understood as a sequel? I thought it was pretty obvious that Thousand-Year Door was the sequel to Paper Mario.

The only mention I've seen of "Paper Mario 2" is a box art design on GameTZ's front page.

I assumed however that this was just an early packaging design before the name "Thousand Year Door" was decided upon.

    I've also seen this image:

Which is the Japanese packaging with an English logo.

There's a demo version of the game that uses that first box art picture.

Paper Mario 2 was the original name of the game, and then about a couple months prior to it's release they changed the name to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. It is however called Paper Mario 2 in Japan. There will not be another Paper Mario on the GameCube, I assure you that.
Mostly just play Nintendo 64. If you've got games PM me! Cart only.

I can’t wait for the next Paper Mario title. Whatever system it’s on, I’ll be there. To this day it’s one of the better RPG series ever made second only to Final Fantasy in my book.

Okay, I think that must be what's going on... The first picture is the one I saw, and I was thinking it was a GC sequel to the GC PM:TTYD game...

    Thanks much guys!
