    Default Curling in Video Games

I'm watching the Olympics on TV... specifically the women's curling (Canada just beat Great Britain 9-3), and I'm craving some curling video game action.... What are my options? Obviously there are no dedicated curling games around, but I know of at least two games that have curling in them: Nagano '98 for the N64 and ESPN Winter Sports 2002 for the Gamecube. I haven't played Nagano, although a friend told me he used to love playing it while drunk... I have played ESPN while at a friend's place and it was pretty fun. Can anyone else recommend something? From what I hear, Torino 2006 on the PS2 is pretty crappy and lacks curling

If ever there was one olympic sport that would be awesome in a DS Olympic game, it is curling.

Plus, there's some seriously hot chicks that throw that rock around.

I actually belonged to a curling club in high school! It's a lot of fun to play (and like bowling, there's a lot of drinking involved, although mostly after, not during; keeping your balance on ice while wearing teflon on your feet is hard enough sober) but I can't watch it.

And yes, a curling DS game would COMPLETELY rule!

The only specific curling game I remember was a crappy freeware game for Win3.1 called "Curling Is A Sport!" What a run of crap luck the US women's team his having at the olympics, huh? Then again there's no way in hell Cassie Johnson should be a skip but in the last two days it's been random debris pickups that have cost them the most.

I liked Nagano for the 64. I kept schooling my friend who owned the game and i'd never played it before that night. It was pretty easy to play.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

I picked up Take out Weight 2 at a Big Lots for only a few bucks. I've yet to play it, as it is PC only, but it looks good.

One of the single-player challenges in Timesplitters: Future Perfect is a curling minigame.

    And it's actually pretty tough.

There are a few mini "shell and ice" games on Mario 64 DS. Its not curling but its things sliding on ice and trying to hit the target.

IMO a game like curing would have to be on the DS to be any fun.

Take Out Weight Curling (I only have the first one) is a wonderful Curling game for PC, 2 looks to be even better, so I highly recommend looking up one of those games.

Nagano for the N64 is the only other game that really has a good, full curling section.

Also, Everywhere Road Trip for PS2 has a curling minigame later on...

I can't believe curling is an actual sport...and I can't believe there is not one but TWO PC games dedicated specifically to curling. But hey, who am I to judge? Some people get off sweeping ice and trying move a big clay rock while not actually touching it.
As ridiculous a premise as I find the sport of curling, I do agree wholeheartedly that it would work wonders as a DS game.

EDIT: And why do they call it curling? That name makes no sense. When you think curl, you think curling up into a fetal position or curly hair. What is curly about sweeping rocks across ice? Does anyone know the actual origin of this title because I've acually been curious for a while. I guess "Rock-sweeping" was not as catchy a title.

Because when a stone is thrown it is done so (when thrown to) that it will "curl" as it moves along the ice toward the house. It's a very old sport, Google is your friend. And it's made of stone, 42 pounds. It takes a crapload of subtle finesse to play well.

The point is your not susposed to "sweeping rocks across ice", the rocks curl as they go down the ice, ever notice how they sometime still get it in the inner circle when theree is another rock blockking the center line. You hook the rock as you throw it, or push it whatever its called. Kind of like throwing a bowlling ball. Thats why its spinning as its going down the ice, also why theres is 2 teamates sweeping and yelling like crazy in front of the rock, to controll the speed and curl of the rock.

yeah or like he said.......hehe that russian chick is pretty cute to.

I went curling today, for real. I would suggest it as an alternative to fake curling. It's not very expensive, and doesn't take really any skill to do. Although you're going to suck, at least it's easy to suck.

The only game I can think of is Digimon World for PSX, which has a curling mini-game in it. It was really freaking hard too, If I recall. That penguin was such a cheating bastard.
