Looks as thought that was a sticker-sealed US copy? Fascinating. I wish I knew more about that. For whatever reason, a few copies (definitely the exception rather than the rule) of US black boxes were sealed with the black circular sticker like you see on canadian copies, either instead of, or in addition to, the wrap.
Looks like yours has the black sticker, is that right? To date I've only seen this on gyromite, gumshoe and stack up and now your dk math.... anyone know more? I do have a stack up that is dual sealed (sticker and wrap) and I've seen two other stack ups like that, but never seen another title dual sealed or even just sticker sealed (US copies). Any words of wisdom?
Good luck w/ the sale also. Interesting how ebay now shows that the next bid meets reserve.
... black sticker?
I think I once sold a complete Super Mario Bros. that had that sticker. I think it was black... but it could've been transparent from what I recall...
It's a black circular sticker that says nintendo on it. It's always located at the top of the top middle of the box (half the sticker should be on the face of the box with the other half on the top flap). It definitely shouldn't be clear. Any sort of a clear sticker would have been added by the retailer, after manufacture.
Very nice. I just know this is going to be sniped way out of my league.
the very first print run of athletic world when it was released with the family fun fitness pad came with the black sticker.Originally Posted by Bronty-2

Nice. It seems as if our very own nintendonut1983 is the high bidder, hope you win.
That is odd, never seen that before...Originally Posted by Bronty-2
About half my black box boxes have the black sticker. I think all the 5-screw games had it, although I haven't checked.Originally Posted by Bronty-2
No way... I have a fair number of sealed hangtab box / five screw black boxes and none of them have the sticker except for stack up, so it's definitely not the case that all hangtab box/ five screw games were sealed with the sticker. You're talking about US copies, right? Canadian and PAL copies all had the sticker for sure. Interesting to hear that it's that widespread though. I wonder if it was a regional thing. Were your black boxes all bought locally? Thanks for the info.Originally Posted by boatofcar
That went for a fair bit cheaper than I expected. I shouldn've bid dammit.
the first chrismas those games came out all the black boxes i got had black stickers on em.
i have my donkey kong junior math with the black sticker
does that make them more desirable>?
to stay on topic- that is a pretty good auction

Yeah, crazy. Too bad I wasn't paying close attention to this thing cause I would have snagged that up for much more then that.
Thats got to be the cheapest one in a while, eh?
I don't think it makes them more desireable, I guess you could say it's just a puzzle that I'm interested in figuring out. For example, it's my understanding that dk math wasn't in production long since all copies I've seen are hangtab box and since, as far as I can tell, hangtab boxes were discontinued around Jan 88. And yet two people on this thread have sticker sealed copies, which means that the same run was sealed different ways? Weird. Maybe only some plants sealed with the sticker and some didn't? I don't know - I wish I had more pieces to the puzzle.Originally Posted by wberdan
wberdan, you mention that in christmas (of 86 I assume) early on the copies in your area were sticker sealed - were they only sticker sealed, or dual sealed with wrap overtop? Or do you remember?
Well, it went far cheaper than I thought it would. With 32 people watching it I figured I'd get some high bids out of it. Guess not. Feels like I was shafted at this price. Oh well.
Ebay drives me crazy. seems like you just have to have your item on at just the right time when 2 or more bidders just have to have a certian game and they will pay what it takes to win. kind of like when you see frogger for the 2600 go for 20.00+ dollars sometimes. but then even when a item goes for some big bucks the odds of winning bidder paying are slim.
I have 5 or 6 black box games with a sticker seal.
I think Slalom, Gumshoe, Tennis, Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Volleyball, and Baloon Fight.
but I don't remember off the top of my head
I have several of those ... titles not mentioned as well (Soccer, Pro Wrestling, Tennis, list goes on but would rather not look). In fact, I was trying to get a copy for each US release before I realized it was probably only the 1985 releases so I stopped the hunting.Originally Posted by Bronty-2
