    HA HA HA HA

You could mention the odd accessories, introducing new aspects to gameplay...Power Glove, U-Force, Rock 'n Roller, Power Pad, LaserScope, etc.
I'm always looking for new boxed NES accessories. If you've got any for sale, shoot me a PM!

Go To the Mushroom Kingdom Website. That's where I got my sounds and pictures from for my public speaking class. Used it for general stuff to dazzle it up. You probably are doing a 5 minute presentation due to the limit of slides, correct? In this case, just show pictures of general things and people involved.

But be warned when searching for pictures. It's very difficult to find a pic of Hiroshi Yamauchi in where he DOESN'T look like Skeletor from Masters of the Universe.

Dude, they should have seriously put Kissinger and Nixon in their own reality/sit-com show. It would be like the odd couple.

Nixon: Is that chairman Mao on the phone?
Kissinger: Yes, but you can't speak to him, you're too drunk right now.

You're mean. Even megalomaniacs such as myself don't like being picked on.

I had a presentation like that my senior year of high school in one of my computer business classes, was supposed to be five minutes or so. Except I did mine on the rise and fall and rise and fall of Atari. (this was 1999 mind you) Anyway, I brought Atari consoles and home computers in, peripherals, old game catalogs and posters, all kinds of stuff. I was randomly chosen as first to go of the 10 or so of us students that were in that class (ROP class so there were always about 12 non-students in there in the back of the room at any given time taking an alternate/combined business applications course), which to me was great - I love presentation stuff.

Anyway, there were two days that all of us were supposed to go through our presentations and at five minutes or so each that wouldn't have been a problem. So I go up and start my presentation, the powerpoint stuff is very much a side display aspect and anchor (as it should be.. if I have to go to one more industry press conference where all they do is read from their slides... grrrr...), and I'm displaying the items I brought in, and very much making up the presentation as I go. Then I display some VCS games with the current (at the time) version of the Stella emulator. So when my presentation was done, 45 minutes had elapsed, I pretty much took up the entire period. And I was consolodating a lot. Of course everyone else was happy that they'd get another day before having to present their stuff.

Just make sure you mention Gunpei Yokoi and all he did for this industry. Don't be like a good deal of columnists and not even give him any recognition or misspell his name, or do a show about the Game Boy INSTEAD of Gunpei Yokoi, and... uh... nevermind that last part.

Here's a good place to start...

I thought you meant opening a powerpoint on actual NES hardware. Then I opened the topic and was disappointed.

I think you would have to mention something about Shigeru Miyamoto.

Listen, Ron Jeremy made a porno in that outfit.

You can grap screenshots off emulators real easily.

I mean really you have to ask yourself WHAT you want to say.

Do you want to say NES paved the way of the future?

Do you want to talk about NES as a collector's item?

Do you just want to show off some games?

Also what is the audience? For instance a class of 20 something computer science majors is different from a class of 16 year old students in an English class. (Assuming this is for school of course)

Basically, what is your audience and what is your purpose. Once that is defined it will be easier to decide what to include.

If it is NES-literate folks you probably wanna talk about oddball peripherals and rare collector's items. Or other interesting tidbits like Chiller. or the Tengen (etc) ordeal.

If it is a generic crowd, you might wanna show a slide of that but mainly show off some of the major games. For instance you could talk about how SMB paved the way for side-scrolling platformers (the FPS of the time imo, along with shmups). Or how Metroid shaped future Castlevania titles. Or how Tetris developed into a genre. Or how capcom is the best developer...ever ( )

Really tho I think screenshots would be effective

Yeah, go ahead and quote my Tengen NES articles at Retrogaming Times Monthly.
